When you think of St. Patrick’s Day fare, corned beef and cabbage, green beer, and stout is usually what comes to mind. However, there are lots of festive dishes you can make for your St. Patrick’s Day get-together.
Here are six St. Patrick’s Day recipes that are sure to make your party at hit!
Matcha Green Tea Gimlet
To whip up this delicious green cocktail you’ll need to mix a tablespoon of sweet matcha powder with three ounces of water. Then add the juice of one lime along with a 1/2 ounce of simple syrup.
Pour your concoction into a shaker with ice and add in 2 1/2 ounces of gin and swirl your shaker around to mix everything up. Strain into a martini glass and enjoy.
Celtic Knot Cookies
These knots are so pretty you might not want to eat them!
Sift about two cups of all-purpose flour, 1 1/2 cups of graham flour, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt into a large bowl. In a separate bowl, beat 1 cup (or 2 sticks) of butter at medium speed until smooth. Add in about 1 cup of brown sugar and beat your mixture for about one minute.
Pour in 1/2 cup of molasses until your mixture if fluffy, then add in one large egg. Turn your beater down to low and add in 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Now pour in your flour mixture and 3 tablespoons of graham cracker crumbs. Wrap your dough in a ball and chill it in the refrigerator overnight.
Wrap your dough in a ball and chill it overnight. When your dough is done, sprinkle some flour over a surface and roll have your dough onto it. Roll out your dough into long, thin snake-like pieces and form into Celtic knot shapes. Bake at 350 F for 12 minutes and sprinkle some powdered sugar on them when they are done.
Irish Chip Dip
This recipe is beyond delicious! Mix 1 1/2 cup of sour cream, 1/2 cup of cream cheese, 1/2 cup of stout, 2 tablespoons of onion dip mix, 1/3 cup of cooked real bacon bits, 1/2 cup of chopped green onions, 1/3 cup shredded cheddar cheese, and pepper to taste. Top it off with extra bacon bits, shredded cheese, and chopped green onions for garnish and serve with some potato chips or french fries.
Shamrock Rice Treats
If you’re looking for a St. Patty’s Day treat that is kid-friendly try these shamrock rice treats. Take 1/4 cup of butter and melt on low in a saucepan. Mix in 4 cups of mini marshmallows and some green food coloring. Take the pan off of the heat and stir in 5 cups of rice cereal. Press the mixture down into a pan that and cut out your shapes with a cookie cutter. Top them off with some white and green sprinkles
Chocolate Stout Cake Pop
These cake pops are too cute! Mix a box of chocolate cake mix and 12 ounces of stout until it is smooth. Pour your batter onto a greased baking pan and bake according to the instructions on the box.
Once your cake has cooled, crumble up your cake into a large bowl and mix in 2 tablespoons of frosting or however much frosting you need until your mixture is dough-like. Add more frosting if necessary.
Make balls that are about one inch in diameter and refrigerate them for 15 to 20 minutes. Heat up one bag of green candy melts according to the directions on the bag. Dip a lollipop stick into the melted chocolate about 1/2 inch and insert it into your cake ball then dip your entire ball. Sprinkle it with some sprinkles and let them dry on parchment paper.
Irish Coffee
This recipe makes a caffeinated beverage with a kick. Drop in 1 teaspoon of sugar into the bottom of an Irish coffee cup, then add 1 1/2 oz. of Irish whiskey. Let your sugar dissolve then pour in about 8 oz. of hot black coffee. Top off with whipped cream.
