To make the pudding, you’ll need the following ingredients: 1 egg, 50 grams of sugar, a pinch of salt, 20 grams of cornstarch, 1 lemon, 200 ml of milk, and 25 grams of butter.

Mix the ingredients until well combined.

Grate the lemon zest, being careful not to include the bitter white membrane. Cut the lemon in half and squeeze the juice from one half into the mixture.

Add milk and place the pan on the stove. Heat the mixture while stirring continuously until it thickens.

Remove the pan from heat and gently stir in the butter. Set the pudding aside for later use.

With the pudding and cake ready, it’s time to assemble the dessert.

Pour the cake batter into a deep baking pan, ensuring an even distribution.

Take the prepared pudding and transfer it to a piping tube or a clean plastic bag with the corner snipped off.

Pipe the pudding onto the cake batter in a design of your choice. A simple crosshatch pattern works well.

Bake the cake in the oven at 180 degrees Celsius for approximately 40 minutes. Watch as it rises and becomes fluffy.

Once done, remove it from the oven and dust the top with powdered sugar.

You can also sprinkle roasted chopped almonds or walnuts before baking for an added crunch.
