Whether it’s a dinner party or a casual dinner for two, anyone can appreciate this Texas-style pulled pork recipe. Not only does the sweet tangy sauce dissolve in your mouth, but the tender meat seems to melt as you chew!
The best part is that this recipe is really simple to follow. All you need to do is the prep work, and let the slow cooker work its magic as usual. The pork simmers into the sauce, making it the perfect summer meal.
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 tsp. vegetable oil
- 1 (4 pound) pork shoulder roast
- 1 cup BBQ sauce
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1 tbsp. prepared yellow mustard
- 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp. chili powder
- 1 extra large onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1 1/2 tsp. dried thyme
- 8 hamburger buns, split
- 2 tbsp. butter
DIRECTIONS:
First, pour the vegetable oil into the slow cooker, then add the pork roast to the bottom of the slow cooker. Pour in the barbeque sauce, apple cider vinegar, and chicken broth over the roast. Then add the brown sugar, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, onion, garlic, and thyme. Cover and cook on high for 5-6 hours, or until the roast shreds easily with a fork.
Next, remove the pork roast from the slow cooker and shred the meat. Return the shredded meat to the slow cooker and stir the meat.
Before serving, split the hamburger buns in half and spread butter onto both sides. Toast the buns, butter side down, until golden brown. Finally, put the pork into the buns. Enjoy the delicious hearty meal of Texas pork today!
