Every once in a while, you just want a good steak.
Cooking a steak isn’t that hard.
And neither is cooking an amazingly delicious steak.
As long as you have a good recipe, that is.
And we got you covered there.
Chef Keoni shared his recipe on how to cook the perfect steak on Foodland Hawaii’s YouTube channel.
The key to that perfect steak recipe is some Hawaiian salt, pepper, butter, and herbs.
That’s all it takes to create one of the most mouthwatering steaks you’ve ever had.
You know what? Let’s be honest here.
The key to this recipe is the butter.
Because butter is, well, butter.
“Butter is a great way to really enhance your steak’s flavor. It is simple but effective. Steak butter is used to make the steak succulent and accentuate its delicious taste,” SteakRevolution explains.
“Steak butter will give your steak a feeling of luxury. So, why not add that richness and complement your steak with something divine?
Steak butter isn’t just limited to steak. You can also use it on other meats such as pork, fish, and chicken for a delicious meal. Another benefit of steak butter is that it will soften up your steak.
It will make it less chewy so you can save your jaw and not feel like you’re chewing on leather. Instead, use steak butter to savor the juiciness of a well-cooked steak.”</p?

Hungry yet? Now let’s get started with that butter-basted steak!
Ingredients:
- 1 and 1/4″ thick steak (ribeye, striploin, or t-bone will do)
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter
- 1 spring of fresh thyme or rosemary
- fresh cracked pepper (to taste)
- Hawaiian salt (to taste)
Step 1) Take your steak out of the fridge and pat it until it’s dry.
Step 2) Let your steak sit out for about 10 to 15 minutes until it comes to room temperature.
Step 3) Heat a cast-iron skillet on high while you wait for your steak to come to room temperature
Step 4) Once your pan is hot, you’ll want to drizzle some vegetable oil on your pan.
Step 5) Place your steak in the pan so that the bottom is covered in oil.
Step 6) Now you can drop your butter in.
Step 7) You can toss in your herbs when your butter starts to melt and bubble.
Step 8) Start basting your steak with the melted butter once the seared side of your steak has a golden-brown crust to it. Once it becomes golden brown, you’ll want to flip it over and continue basting with butter.
Step 9) Keep your steak moist and juicy by basting it with butter as it cooks.
Step 10) Once both sides are seared, you’ll want to periodically check the temperature of your steak. For medium-rare steaks, the internal temperature of your steak should be 120°F. Continue basting your steak with butter until your steak reaches the proper temperature.
Step 11) Once your steak has reached the correct temperature take it out of the pan and let it sit for about five minutes.
Step 12) Now it’s time to slice into your steak and enjoy!
