There’s nothing like trying out new recipes for the holidays, especially when it comes to sweet treats. Even though we may not have many cookie swap parties going on this year, that doesn’t mean we can’t tend to our sweet tooths.

We all know the usual holiday cookie classics like gingerbread men and peanut butter Hershey kiss cookies.

But sometimes we can get tired of making the same old recipes every year. Thankfully the internet is overflowing with unique sweet treats for Christmas time.

1. Hot Cocoa Snowflake

Little marshmallows in your hot chocolate are such a yawn. It’s time to spice up that warm cup of cocoa with a super fun homemade snowflake marshmallow.

All you need is:

  • marshmallow fluff
  • piping bag
  • hot cocoa (of course)

On a baking sheet you’ll draw out a snowflake using the marshmallow and piping bag.

Drawing is much easier than it sounds. Just follow the design in the photo below, and once finished dust them with cornstarch and let them settle for 1 hour.

Then they’re ready to throw in your mug of hot cocoa, your family will thank you.

2. Cookie Snowglobes

These magical cookies are simple and a total hit! It’s time to shake things up in the kitchen.

What you’ll need:

  • sugar cookie dough
  • clear hard candy
  • sprinkles
  • royal Frosting

You’ll cut a ring out of the cookie dough and place a clear hard candy in the middle.

You’ll bake until the candy is fully melted and pull it out to see a crystal like window in your sugar cookie.

While they cool place sprinkles of your choosing in the middle (enough to shake around). Then you’ll grab another finished window cookie on top by glueing it down with royal icing.

Voila! you’ve got yourself a snowglobe cookie.

3. Eggnog Truffles

This tasty truffle diy will have your fam begging for the recipe!

What you’ll need:

  • iced vanilla cupcakes with sprinkles
  • egg nog
  • mashers
  • white chocolate
  • sugar sprinkles

With your already baked and iced cupcakes throw them in a mixing bowl.

Throw about a cup of egg nog in the bowl and mash cupcakes. You’ll want it to look like a dough and add more egg nog for a better consistency. Then you’ll form little balls out of your cupcake dough.

Now you’ll melt your white chocolate and throw your mini cupcake balls into the chocolate.

Then you can add whatever color sprinkle you’d like. Present them in mini cupake paper and ta da! You’ve got egg nog truffles.

4. Candy Cane Cookies

These cookies are as striking and delicious as it gets.

What you’ll need

  • Sugar cookie dough
  • red sugar sprinkles

Divide your dough equally so one can be white and leave the rest to place red sugar sprinkles in.

Then you’ll use a rolling to flat out the down. Now you’ll cut out to equal length dough strings of one white and roll the other in the red sugar sprinkles.

Then you’ll twist the dough around each other to create candy cane cookie. Bake and enjoy!

5. Tye Dye Christmas Cookies

These colorful cookies will dazzle anyone you bring them too.

What you’ll need:

  • Sugar cookie dough
  • red food dye
  • green food dye
  • christmas cookie cutters
  • parchment paper

In three seperate bowls divide the sugar cookie dough.

In one bowl add red food dye, in another add green food dye and keep the other one regular.

Then you’ll rip the dough all up and mix it with one another. Then you’ll place parchment paper on top of the dough and roll it all out together.

Using cookie cutters of your choosing and they’ll look like a tye dyed Christmas miracle.

6. Santa Oreos

This adorable recipe is perfect for the kids and anyone else you have in mind.

What you’ll need:

  • white oreos
  • red frosting
  • white frosting
  • black frosting
  • mini marshmallows
  • red m&ms
  • skewers

For these cuties, you’ll put a skewers in the oreo for a no-mess dip.

Dip one half of the oreo in white frosting and then dip the other side a tiny bit into red frosting leaving a middle space of the oreo bare. Once dipped place 3 mini marshmallows on the bottom of the red frosting to make a Santa hat and put one marshmallow on the tippy top. Then you’ll put 1 red m&m on top middle area of the white frosting (Santa’s nose).

Then using a tiny bit of place frosting make to eyes in the middle blank space of the cookie. Now you’ve got some super cute Santa treats.

7. Gingerbread Holding Mints

These aren’t your usually gingerbread men. They’ve got lots of spunk that’ll will surely capture your guests hearts.

What you’ll need:

  • gingerbread cookie dough
  • gingerbread man cookie cutter
  • white frosting
  • aluminum foil
  • soft peppermints

Roll out the gingerbread dough and cut out shapes using cookie cutter.

then you’ll want to form small aluminum foil balls to place in the gingerbread mans arms. You’ll want to wrap their arms around the foil so the bake holding it. Bake them in the oven and remove foil balls. Then you’ll place the soft peppermints in the gingerbreads arms and it will look as if their holding it.

Finally you’ll doll up your gingerbread man using white frosting to create buttons and a smiley face.

8. Snowman Pretzels

Last but not least these cute pretzels are a total fan favorite! I mean what’s better than a good salty sweet combo?

What you’ll need:

  • pretzel stick rods
  • white chocolates
  • m&ms
  • black frosting
  • sour belts
  • orange sprinkles

You’ll melt your white chocolate and start dipping the pretzels half way.

Once dipped you wrap a sour belt straw around the pretzel to look like a scarf. Then you’ll put 2 matching m&ms on each side to look like earmuffs. Finally you’ll add and orange sprinkle for the nose and draw eyes and buttons on your snow man using black frosting.

Voila you’ve got yourself some adorable pretzels!
