They certainly got their point across.

Are there really bad parents? When do we say that one is not successful in doing their sole responsibility as a parent to their young ones?

Though no such “rule book” about parenting has ever existed yet, it doesn’t take away the fact that this subject is still worth the argument.

One parent came across a message and that made quite an impact on her as a mother.

The mom in this story is Juliana Mazurkewicz. One afternoon when she was about to pick her daughter up from the daycare when she came across a bold message that was taped the door for all the parents to see.

The message didn’t pertain to school rules or whatnot. Instead, the note was particularly for the parents. It mentioned something what parents “should not be doing” whenever they’re inside the daycare’s premises.

It regarding parents using their cellphones.

Juliana took a snap of the sign and decided to share it on her social media account.

The first two lines of the message went like this:

“You are picking up your child! GET OFF YOUR PHONE!!!!

That was just the first lines, the daycare also sent a question to the parents via the post.

As the message in the post continued:

“Your child is happy to see you! Are you happy to see your child?”

It looked like the daycare staff noticed this habit among parents who were always on their phones whenever they came to pick up their kids. Obviously, they weren’t happy with what they observed, so they came up with this post.

“We have seen children trying to hand their parents their work they completed and the parent is on the phone. We have heard a child say ‘Mommy, mommy, mommy…’ and the parent is paying more attention to their phone than their own child.”

They ended it by saying:

“It is appalling! Get off your phone!!

Juliana’s post about the daycare’s note went viral!

With 2 million shares online, 19K comments, and 143K mixed reactions, the photo made quite a ruckus in the online community. A heated debate even arose because of the photo.

People on the internet were divided on the topic.

Just like an ordinary debate, there were two sides clashing about their personal thoughts and arguments about this message. Some agreed to the daycare’s message, while others were not that happy with it and called it “shaming.”

A Facebook user nodded to the message by commenting:

“I’ve seen a lot of this myself, and it’s truly disheartening! Hopefully parents take heed of the message!”

Another one commented:

“When its time to give your child attention dedicate yourself to it. Do it with passion.”

While this one from the other side of the coin wrote:

“How do you know the call isnt important some people actually pic their kids up while they are working and they need that phone to do their job. How about people mind their own business and if you dont like it move on”

One woman agreed with the daycare’s idea but didn’t quite agree with their word of choice.

“This maybe true, but the wording is terrible! If I was a parent I would not be happy however If a nice meaningful statement replaced it that gets you thinking, with the same meaning, would probably have a much better outcome!”

Juliana was also able to share her thoughts about it.

She told ABC News:

“The owner posted the sign on the door. I was surprised that they would be so bold, but also I liked it. I thought it was on point.”

When speaking with CNN, Juliana said:

“I was a bit shocked, but I didn’t feel any negativity towards the day care. I know that the staff has the best interests of the children in mind, even to the point where they are willing to offend the parent.”

Everyone has made their points. Actually, I am also a parent, and I am personally guilty of the daycare’s message. With phones in hand or not, nobody should be shamed or discredited for whatever they are doing for their families. After all, they just want to be a good parent, wouldn’t you agree?
