We are just a couple of days away from celebrating Christmas and that gives us a little leeway in time to prepare things before the grand celebration. Like putting up decorations at home, shopping for all the ingredients in the dish that you plan to prepare, buying presents for the kids, for instance, and a whole lot more.
Also, one thing that people look forward to, apart from eating together with their families and other loved ones, is grabbing a good movie that’s right for the occasion. Actually, there are plenty of Christmas movies that you can choose from, so there’s no way for you to miss out on a good pick.
With the tons of holiday movies out there, both from the past and present generations, there are a lot of discoveries that you may have probably made just by simply watching them- like Santa Claus is based on a real person and that he also has a “bad” counterpart called “Krampus,” right?
Speaking of “discoveries”, just recently people, especially Christmas movie fans, have realized something that totally shocked them.
Do you know the movie, ‘A Christmas Story’?
It is a 1983 American Christmas comedy film. It is about the character Ralphie Parker, played by Peter Billingsley who was just 12 years old back then.
The story revolves around an old Ralphie narrating his unforgettable Christmas when he had his dream present, a Red Ryder Carbine Action 200-shot Range Model air rifle, given to him.
“The film was released on November 18, 1983. Filmed partly in Canada, it earned two Canadian Genie Awards in 1984. In 2012, it was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress for being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant”.”
Have you also seen the movie, ‘Elf’?
It’s also an American Christmas comedy film which was released back in 2003. It starred some big names like Will Ferrell, James Caan, Zooey Deschanel, Mary Steenburgen, Daniel Tay, Bob Newhart, and Ed Asner.
The story of the movie revolves around ‘Buddy’, a human who was adopted and raised by Santa’s elves. After learning about this, he headed to New York in search of his biological father, all the while spreading the true spirit of Christmas in a world full of negativity.
“Elf was released in the United States on November 7, 2003 by New Line Cinema to critical and commercial success, grossing $220 million worldwide against a $33 million budget.”
Now, here is what dropped the fans’ jaws.
‘A Christmas Story’ and ‘Elf’ are two good holiday movies that were born in two different eras. However, there’s one actor that linked these two films together and it’s none other than Peter Billingsley.
The movies are 20 years apart from when they were released, but that didn’t matter much to the keen eyes of the audience. They were able to spot that both characters Ralphie (from ‘A Christmas Story’) and Ming Ming (the head elf in Santa’s workshop from ‘Elf’) were played by him.
Is anyone else shocked about this!!! That’s Ralphie from A Christmas Story! In Elf! Crazy!!! Also, still live. https://t.co/x99qIZ0Rig pic.twitter.com/5BwaMAA12J

Now, Billingsley is already 49 years old and has made quite a success in the movie industry. He has already produced and directed movies of his own.
Even still, I think we can all pretty much agree that this man was born to spread the cheer of the Christmas spirit, and he’s doing a fantastic job of it!
