Cookies are without a doubt one of the best finger foods around the world, if not the best.
They’re an old type of baked food that has existed long before us and over the years it has been fused with many other tasty ingredients, like chocolate, which is the most commonly used additional flavor to a crispy cookie.
In most English-speaking countries, except the United States and Canada, a crunchy cookie is often called a biscuit. Whichever way it’s called, it is always going to be the same old crunchy snack that we all love.
“Biscuit or cookie variants include sandwich biscuits, such as custard creams, Jammie Dodgers, Bourbons and Oreos, with marshmallow or jam filling and sometimes dipped in chocolate or another sweet coating.”
You may or may not agree with this, but chocolate chip cookies have changed the history of cookies as the years go by. I mean, yes, plain cookies are downright delicious but do they not taste a lot more flavorful when mixed with chocolate chips?
Though there are also a number of cookies that are equally-delicious as chocolate chip cookies, to name a few, there are sugar cookies, oatmeal cookies, ginger cookies, tarts, chocolate crinkles, biscotti, macaroons, cranberry orange cookies, shortbread cookies, and many more.
But if you are that type of person who loves chocolate chip cookies and maraschino cherries at the same time, then this recipe shared by the YouTube channel The First Year, managed by a food blogger named Beth, is the best for you.
And for the reason as to why her food blog site is called “The First Year”, she wrote:
“I started blogging in August 2013, 2 months after we got married. I wanted to document and share our first year of marriage, and the name just stuck. But even after we celebrated our first anniversary, there will always be new firsts for us to experience together.. first time buying a home, first time welcoming a baby into the world, first time getting βrealβ jobs, etc.”
Going back to the recipe…
This one features the best of both worlds, the ageless crunch, and taste of baked cookies, blended with the sweet touch from chocolate chips, and the nutritiously juicy flavor packed inside maraschino cherries.
“Maraschino cherries are an ingredient in many cocktails, giving them the nickname “cocktail cherries”. As a garnish, they often are used to decorate frozen yogurt, baked ham, cakes, pastry, parfaits, milkshakes, ice cream sundaes, and ice cream sodas. They are an integral part of an American ice cream sundae. The term “cherry on top” refers to the Maraschino cherries on top of the ice cream sundae. They are frequently included in canned fruit cocktail. Sometimes the cherries, along with some of the maraschino syrup, are put into a glass of Coca-Cola to make an old-fashioned or homemade “Cherry Coke”.”
It’s a quick and easy cookie recipe- according to the blog site, it would only take “10 minutes to make the cookie dough, 14-16 minutes to bake the cookies, 15 minutes to cool the cookies.”
With added food coloring, these chocolate chip cookies turn into delightfully colored beauties, making them even more appetizing. The outcome of these cookies almost looks like cherry-flavored ice cream, it’s just that this one is the crispy and hot version.
We also think that this is going to be an ideal dessert this holiday season because we are all used to the normal chocolate chip cookies which we can actually buy at any convenience or grocery store, right?
