In fact, White House chef, Andre Rush, is the one who showed us how to turn an ordinary KFC meal into a dish that he could serve to the President of the U.S.

Rush, a celebrity chef and military veteran, famous for his large biceps and overall physique – intimidating one might say – stars in a YouTube video where he reinvents cordon bleu.

And it went viral.

At the beginning of the video, the chef opens the door to YouTuber Danny Kim, who has some KFC with him, and asks Rush to make it gourmet.

Rush accepts the challenge – and what follows is nothing short of amazing.

He starts unboxing his “ingredients”:

  • fried chicken sandwich
  • French fries
  • chicken thighs
  • coca cola

In the meantime, he gives some “inside information”: this was Donald Trump’s favorite meal.

So, he decides to class it up by making Chicken Cordon Bleu with that.

First, he takes the skin off and pulls the chicken apart, some of which he will keep for later.

He then uses the soda to make a quick sauce. He takes some sliced onions, and sautees them in olive oil, and adds in some black pepper.

Then he then pours in the cola and lets the extra liquid evaporate.

In the meantime, he works on the meat.

He takes some prosciutto slices and arranges them on some cling film. He then adds a layer of the chicken he sliced before. He adds ham and cheese, and some more fried chicken he finds in the sandwich.

He adds another layer, packs it tight, and puts it in the freezer.

Back to the cola sauce, he adds some Demi.

At this point, you may feel a little lost. This is nothing but demi-glace as they call it – in other words, reduced brown stock and red wine heated until it has a syrupy texture. When it’s ready, he thins it up a little using some cream.

But chef Rush hasn’t forgotten about the fries.

He pours some cream in a saucepan, brings it to a boil, and adds the fries along with the buns. When it has absorbed the cream, the chef puts it all in a chopper, adds (what looks like) an egg, and it’s ready.

Almost ready to serve!

Rush takes the cordon bleu out of the freezer, he coats it in eggwash and breadcrumbs, and fries it. Meanwhile, he fries the leftover chicken skin, too.

When the chicken is nice and golden brown on the outside, he puts it in the oven. While he waits for that, he fries some veggies to go with his dish.

Time for the grand finale. The chef cuts into the chicken and the layers of prosciutto, ham, cheese, and chicken just make your mouth water.

He serves the dish as only a proper chef would do, and then it’s time for Danny to taste it.

Not surprisingly, he gives it a thumbs up!
