No summer is ever complete without mowing down on some delectable s’mores- preferably around a campfire.
Even if you can’t get near a fire this summer (with fire bans being widespread as things start heating up)- you can still have your s’mores and eat them too, so-to-speak.
There are many ways to make S’mores without a fire. You can bake a whole sheet of them at once in the oven, zap them in the microwave, or take the more dangerous route of trying to toast them over your stove-top burner.
While you can get around the traditional ways of crafting these delectable treats, however, one thing you can’t break away from is the gooey mess that oozes out of them when you go to take a bite.

That is exactly what Culinary Institue of America graduate, Michael Tierney, has done.
The young chef told Insider that he was sitting around (you guessed it) a campfire when a stroke of genius washed over him. The idea? To wrap the chocolate up inside of the marshmallow for all the goodness and half the mess.
Now, we know what you might be thinking- the mess is half the fun. And we agree, it totally is! What’s not as fun is losing most of your melted chocolate as it slips right out of the S’mores and right into the dirt. A place we’ve all been before.
Encasing the chocolate in the gooey marshmallow traps it so you get to experience a whole lot more of that heavenly campfire treat.

While Tierney’s idea came to him easily enough (and many others), he explains that the execution of it was nowhere near as simple.
In fact, it took the creative foodie over seven long years to perfect this tasty treat!
“[A marshmallow with a chocolate center] is a simple idea, but very hard to execute, which is why it hasn’t been done before. I spent seven years figuring out a truly innovative system that breaks the rules of traditional candy making. I’m so excited it’s finally here,” Tierney exclaimed about the release of his innovative new marshmallows.

Stuffed Puffs hit the store shelves last year, and if you’re wondering how they held up against the classic S’mores recipe, well – let’s just say that they were such a hit that they’re now Insta-famous!
