Do you have a Bundt pan lying around the house? When we typically picture a Bundt pan, we think of filling it with some kind of dough, maybe to make a coffee cake or other baked good. As it turns out, however, these pans actually have many other uses if you’re willing to get a little bit creative in your kitchen. You may have used one of these pans to make a roasted chicken before, for example. But today, we have a new recipe for you.
Spaghetti is a simple comfort food that we generally whip up when we’re trying to do a low-effort meal. Still, sometimes the plain way of serving it can get boring. Instead, why not throw your pasta into a Bundt pan to make a spaghetti pie out of it? If you’ve never tried it, this should be a nice surprise.
Here’s what you need:
- 1 pound of spaghetti noodles
- 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 cups of sharp white cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 1/2 cups of whole milk
- 3/4 cups of shredded Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese
- 3 large eggs, beaten
- 2 1/2 teaspoons of pepper
- 2 teaspoons of salt
- 1 jar of pasta sauce
Here’s what you do:
1. Before you get started, preheat your oven to about 425 degrees. At the same time, get a 10-inch Bundt pan and make sure you generously butter up the sides of it. With that prepared, get a large pot of water with a little salt in it and bring it to a boil. Cook your spaghetti noodles in it according to the instructions on the package until they’re al dente.
2. Once the noodles are done, drain them in a colander and transfer them into a large bowl. Next, toss the noodles with your shredded cheeses, milk, eggs, salt and pepper. Make sure you stir everything up so that it’s well-combined. Once you’re ready, pour the spaghetti mixture into your Bundt pan and pack it down as necessary.
3. If your oven is ready, throw the Bundt pan in and bake it for about 35 to 40 minutes. After the time is up, take the pan out—you’ll know it’s done when the cheese is melted and bubbling over! Set the entire thing on a wire rack to cool off for about 15 more minutes before inverting the Bundt pan to let the spaghetti bake fall out. When you’re ready, simply slice and serve for a delicious dinner!
As you can see, this new take on spaghetti doesn’t take much more effort than baking normal spaghetti does. Still, the recipe offers some novelty for those who are sick of plain noodles and who want a different kind of texture with their spaghetti! As we mentioned in the ingredients list, you can also have pasta sauce on hand for the end of the recipe as a kind of dipping sauce or condiment.
As always, we encourage you to take the idea behind this recipe and make it your own. All people make their pasta dishes differently, so why not try this with other ingredients? Add in minced garlic or other spices to give everything a new flavor. If you want, why not try a pesto version of this bake that sits the same way? For an extra burst of cheese, you can also top the Bundt pan with shredded cheese and breadcrumbs for extra flavor. The choice is yours and we leave it up to you!
