It’s always great to have a go-to restaurant or deli that offers healthy options.

Peace Love Pickles allow you to shave calories off of your typical deli sandwich by using pickles instead of bread.

Their pickle sandwiches are also gluten-free, carb-free, and keto-friendly.

Peace Love Pickles, formerly known as Elsie’s, is the new home of “Home of the Original Pickle Sandwich.”

This sandwich shop doesn’t have a single slice of bread inside its doors.

All sandwiches are served on pickled or unpickled cucumbers that are scooped out or rolled up.

“Every sandwich is constructed using our signature pickle, pickle roll up, or cucumber roll up. You can order our custom sandwich selections from the menu or build your own! Our team also offers small batch custom pickle flavor profiles by the quart, a house-made brine spiked bloody, signature brine by the bottle, and house-made signature brine-based cocktail mixers. We are a sanctuary for those with dietary restrictions, gluten intolerance for those that follow the Keto regimen, and for those that simply LOVE our signature pickles,” their website states.

Peace Love Pickles offers a variety of meat and cheese choices and have dressings like Sriracha mayo and spicy wasabi mayo. They also have all kinds of different pickle creations like pickle salads, a hot dog on a pickle, and pickle noodles.

Elsie’s owner Katherine Cohen Jordan rebranded Elsie’s – Home of the Original Pickle Sandwich as Peace Love Pickles in 2021, according to Philly Grub.

“Elsie will always be a part of our history; she was our inspiration and served us well, but moving forward, it was time to change the name to avoid conflicts as we expand and open new franchises,” Katherine Cohen Jordan told the publication.

Elsie’s Pickles first opened in 2016 in Linwood, NJ. Cohen Jordan had made her mom sandwiches on her homemade pickles instead of bread.

A customer came in one day, saw her mom eating the pickle sandwich, and asked Cohen Jordan to make 10 for her office.

Cohen Jordan eventually left that shop so she and her husband could start their own place exclusively selling pickled sandwiches. Their flagship store opened in 2019 in Haddon Township, NJ. Their pickle sandwich soon went viral.

“Business was crazy in the beginning, and after exploring our options, we dipped our toes into the franchise waters,” Cohen Jordan explained. “We’re working with a firm based out of Palm Beach, Florida.”

A second Elsie’s opened as their first franchise in Northfield, NJ in February 2021.

A third opened in Atlantic Highlands in Central Jersey by the same franchise and closed a year later, according to Patch.

The franchising consulting firm recommended the name change, and the company selected its existing tagline, “Peace Love Pickles,” as its new name.

“The slogan espouses our goal of bringing happiness to people through our delicious pickle sandwiches,” Cohen Jordan said. “We’re a happy brand. It’s a pickle party!”

They also got a new logo, signage, and interior updates.

“We’re not just another sandwich shop; we take helping people with special and restricted diets seriously. We love helping all people enjoy food,” Cohen Jordan said.
