Some people have way too much time on their hands. But honestly, we’re glad they do. Especially those who spend hours in the kitchen because they benefit the rest of us with their incredible creations. Sometimes, individuals come up with amazing food. Whether on purpose or by accident, it makes eating a lot more fun.

Living vegan

Some people prefer to follow a vegan diet. Veganism consists of avoiding animals and animal by-products. So, along with meat, they stay away from things like cow’s milk, cheese, butter, and so. That means they have to come up with alternatives for some of the traditional foods they enjoy.

Making some changes

Even though Claire wasn’t thrilled with the first try, she believed she was onto something. For one thing, she needed to make them less rubbery. Also, she wanted to make them taste less bitter. So onward she went.

Perfecting the recipe

Claire also found that the original batch using bacon grease didn’t yield crunchy peels. After making several changes, she finally got it just right. The bacon tasting banana peels were so good you can eat them alone, with other breakfast foods, or as part of a BLT.

Sharing her secret

Instead of using bacon fat, Claire fried the banana peels in vegan fats. Although they all work, the one she liked the best was grapeseed oil. People who’ve tried the recipe absolutely love it and swear the peels taste like bacon.

Instructions for making banana peel bacon

The process of making this is super easy. Start by scraping the pulp out of the peels. Next, fry the peels in vegan oil until almost crispy. Remove the peels from the skillet, drain off the fat, and then brush the peels with soy sauce. Just make sure you choose a product that’s salty, sweet, and spicy.
