The “law of attraction” works differently on a cozy bed. Especially for moms, their days are not ordinary. Their days seem to be extra long because of the unending chores at home. To top it all, taking care of the kids is no joke, it’s incredibly exhausting!

But this was not an ordinary day for this mom.

Because of a flood, Randi Jo Amt and her family had to leave their home. They were forced to move out and had to spend the evening in a hotel room until the flood subsided.

The family, especially the kids, were deeply stressed by the situation. Just when they were about to jump on the bed after the troublesome day, she heard loud noises coming from the hallway of the hotel.

Instead of letting an outburst of anger at whoever was making the noise consume her, she decided to be more diplomatic.

She wrote on a Facebook post:

“We put the kids to bed as quickly as possible and teenagers were loud in the hallway for awhile. I was frustrated, but wanted to wait to talk to them when I could tell them about our situation to see if they could show compassion rather than become angry at the lady next door.”

She planned to talk about the matter, however…

She missed them the next morning and didn’t have the chance to. She discovered that the guests next door were teenagers and they are members of the Future Farmers of America.

They traveled from Kansas to Indiana to attend a convention.

“I didn’t see them the next morning at breakfast. Friday morning, my oldest son went to breakfast and followed our hall neighbors down. He told me that their jackets said Kansas on them.”

Randi Jo was then able to talk to the loud guests.

She had the chance to do it when one day she noticed that their door was ajar. Then she told the teens about their story.

“Friday evening, I noticed that the ffa kids had their doors cracked, so I decided to talk to them. I let them know about our house being destroyed by water. I told them that we wanted them to have their fun and we would appreciate their respect to let our kids get good rest.”

The boy whom she talked to seemed to understand the situation and was apologetic about the inconvenience that they have caused the Amt family, especially to the kids.

What the teens did next shocked her!

“Before I went to bed, I noticed a note that someone had slipped under our door. I opened the note to find money.”

They tucked $40.00 along with a note. The message was straight and simple, yet very kind.

“We are more than sorry for waking you and your family up the past few nights. We hope everything goes well with your house.”

Randi Jo and her family were all touched by the message. They didn’t expect things to turn out that way. They were simply moved by the thoughtful act of the teens.

“In a world where some people sit behind screens and become angry on social media, this young man restored my faith that the next generation can make eye contact and show compassion to the person right in front of him … They set an excellent example for my children and their parents should be more than proud.”

Randi Jo’s post went viral with 10,000 shares and 14K “likes.”

Just like the Amts, the FFA members were just as surprised by the positive feedback that their simple act has amassed. In an interview, one of the teens named Tanner Wells shared:

“I just thought we could do something for them that I think could change their day, brighten up their day a little bit.”

The family was thankful for what the teens did so they decided to pay it forward by helping the homeless using the money.

This story only proves that kindness is still everywhere. The rule is pretty simple, just be KIND.
