Simple and delicious cabbage
MoonyKitchen, a popular YouTube account in Korea and other parts of the world, posted a video that earned over 2.1M views.
What sets this video apart is that his recipe is straightforward.
According to his YouTube description, it’s so delicious that he cooks it almost daily.
Cabbage for breakfast, anyone?
For some, it’s hard to believe his claims, but it makes sense. After all, this recipe is all about cabbage and carrots.
To recreate this recipe, you’ll need:
- Half cabbage (big) or one whole if you’re using medium cabbage
- 1 Large carrot
- Onion
- Garlic
- Salt
- Pepper
- Vinegar (this is optional, but it makes a world of difference)
That’s it! Now, if you’re ready, let’s cook this simple but delicious meal.
Here’s how to make it:
Step 1. Wash your vegetables.
Step 2. Cut your cabbage into roughly 1/8th inch thickness. Set aside.
Step 3. Get your carrot and peel it. Thinly shred the carrot into 1 1/2 – 2 inch strips.
Step 4. Chop your onion thinly. When everything is ready, heat your skillet.
Step 5. In your hot skillet, pour cooking oil and then sauté garlic and onions. Make sure they don’t burn.
We want to achieve that golden brown texture, but not burned. When cooking, do you add your onions first or garlic?
Step 6. Once the onions are translucent, add carrots. Sauté until cooked.
Step 7. Add cabbage. Now, you may find it hard to sauté because of the cabbage, so you can use two spatulas.
Don’t worry because once the cabbage cooks, its volume will decrease.
Step 8. Once slightly brown, add salt and pepper to taste.
Step 9. Add some vinegar, if using.
Step 10. Serve warm over rice, or egg, or include it in any other dish that you love.
Seeing the final results, we would understand why he cooks it almost every day.
It’s simple and cheap, and you can mix and match it with almost any dish you love.
Pair it with rice, ramen, sausage, steak, and even bread. The taste is simple but delicious. What we love about it is the crunch of the vegetables.
Aside from cooking this in just a few minutes, you are able to serve your family a healthy meal.
Carrots are packed with fiber, protein, vitamins A, K, C, and even calcium.
Cabbage also gives you a lot of benefits. A single serving can give you folate, manganese, vitamin B6, potassium, and magnesium.
How amazing is that?
