Having a party outside, maybe next to a nice pool so you and your friends can enjoy the summer?
Summer party favorites are probably the fancy cocktails, but we don’t just drink- we have to accompany them with some finger food, right?
And, although there are many kinds of finger food that we’ve been trying over the years and some that we definitely love, why not try something new?
Something sweet and savory at the same time, light and delicious!
Chef John from YouTube channel Food Wishes uploaded a pizza recipe that for some users sounded like it was meant to be posted on April 1st!
Well, some of you might agree when finding it out, but after trying the recipe it’ll probably make you change your mind.
It’s watermelon pizza, and it has nothing to do with more fruit, cookies, or even chocolate!
It’s an actual savory dish that has attracted thousands of users and has been liked by more than 7k who may have already tried it.
Let’s take a closer look at the recipe.
For this pizza, we’ll need a seedless watermelon, some olives, feta cheese, mint, a little vinegar, and olive oil.
It’s just that easy!
And, since most of us do have these ingredients on hand, we can try it today, and see if the taste is good for us.
First, we’ll need to cut the watermelon in half, and then get as many wedges as we can.
In order to make several pizzas, the four quarters used for each one should ideally be of the same size.
So, as Chef John explains during the video, although such watermelons have no black seeds, they usually have several immature seeds, which we could easily remove using a teaspoon.
As he points out, the holes that will be left on each pizza quarter will help the toppings stay there.
Now, moving on to the topping.
This is very easy and not time-consuming at all.
We’ll need to add some feta cheese, and some bits of olives (black olives or even Kalamata olives, which are perfect for this dish).
Then, add some freshly ground pepper to add a perfect fragrance to your dish.
Finally, add some finely sliced mint (basil would also work here), dress the pizza with a few drops of vinegar, and finish with a touch of olive oil to give it some extra richness.
Now the pizza is ready.
All you need to do is grab a quarter and try it- it’s delicious, isn’t it?
As many users who watched the video admitted, they didn’t believe the pizza would be tasty when they saw the video, but they loved it when they actually tried it at home.
“This is why people should give things a chance. Don’t judge a book by its cover. Watermelon and feta is pretty good,” someone wrote.
Another person commented:
“Tried this tonight with some old family friends, and it was ACE.”
So, this summer, if you want to get all the hydration and nutrients that watermelon offers but if you find it boring, then try this fancy recipe!
