For first time parents, the delightful feeling of having your little version is simply amazing, it’s a top of the world feeling. The firsts of parenting will excite every newbie- bathing a tender baby, changing diapers, preparing milk (if not breastfed), and many more.
Probably after a year or two, they will eventually become masters of the game, and soon they’ll be full-fledged parents.
However…
We bet not even the veterans are ready for what happened to this lovely couple from Idaho.
They are not first-time parents, they already had 2 girls prior, then mom got pregnant again, not with one, not two, not even three.
They’re expecting to have quintuplets!
Chad Kempel and his wife Amy were blessed with 5 more bundles of joy, making them 7 in total.
Dad knows that 7 is not an easy task, so he decided to be creative in order to help his wife.
Wanting to help other parents out there, Chad decided to share his DIY creations online, and to his surprise, the people loved it!
He came up with brilliant ideas like making a table with pre-installed baby chairs, improvised bottle-feeding mechanism, ways to easily change their babies’ clothes, and even transformed their family van into something conducive and helpful in providing their children’s needs within reach.
And soon, he called them “Quint hacks.”
A traumatic past.
Just like any other couple, Chad and Amy had gone through the darkest shades of life as a couple wanting to have a family. They had multiple heartbreaking miscarriages and even lost twin boys within 22 weeks of being born.
Though the pain that they needed to withstand was beyond excruciating, the couple didn’t give up on dreaming about having a beautiful family. They simply knew that someday- somehow, it would be granted to them at the perfect time.
With the aid of intrauterine insemination (IUI), they are now proud parents of seven beautiful children.
Before learning that they were going to have 5 more babies, Chad and Amy already had 2 lovely daughters. Because of what had happened to them in the past, the couple feared the idea of having 5 more newborns.
In the NowThis video, Chad said:
“…when the ultrasound shows up on the screen, every couple should be happy and thrilled about that moment, and not have their heads go exactly where our heads went. Which is like, ‘Oh no, this isn’t gonna end well.’”
Thankfully, everything turned out just fine.
Amy bravely carried the quintuplets inside her womb for 27 weeks, but due to medical reasons, she had to deliver them 3 months early via C-section.
After staying at the NICU for 73 days, all the infants, 3 girls and 2 boys, were able to go home safe. And as expected, the two older daughters were beyond happy to see their 5 younger siblings.
Looking at the new situation, the couple realized something.
Chad said:
“We basically looked at each other and we said, ‘We don’t own this house anymore.’ And so, we gave it all up to the kids.”
They got rid of some furniture to create space for their “baby room” and to help Amy with babysitting while he’s at work, Chad started to improvise and create things that would be a big help to his wife.
A simple-designed mechanism that will help hold multiple feeding bottles.
Changing clothes hack.
Table for 5?
Traveling? No problem! Here’s a changing table while on the road.
He even made a YouTube channel called ‘Chad Kempel – Faith, Hope and Chaos – Quint Hacks.’
The channel aims to help all the struggling parents out there. On the “About” section of the channel, they wrote:
“Whether singletons, twins, triplets, quadruplets/quads, quintuplets/quints, or sextuplets we hope our parent/parenting hacks, tips, mistakes, and successes make your life a little easier.”
Watch the video below to see how Chad’s “Quint hacks” helped them raise quintuplets.
