Good to know things about food intake, especially snacks.

It is always a good habit to control your intake of snacks, whatever type it might be. Moderation is always key- remember what they always say, “anything taken in excess is bad.”

Though snacks are just always within your reach, you must still try to control yourself from having too much of them. Why don’t you try this pattern- have three meals within the day, and two snacks in-between each.

1. Apples dipped in Greek yogurt

We all know that “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”, right? That’s actually true because you get a lot of vitamins and minerals from it.

According to Eckert’s:

“Each time you eat an apple, you’ll get a healthy dose of this important vitamin… B-complex vitamins are also found in apples. This includes riboflavin, thiamin and vitamin B-6, all of which are essential in maintaining red blood cells and keeping your nervous system strong and healthy… Apples include vitamin K as well.”

Greek yogurt, on the other hand, is full of protein. It’s an ideal snack if you want to keep your stomach full.

  1. Put your desired serving of yogurt in a bowl, sprinkle some cinnamon, and drizzle some honey over the top. Mix.
  2. Dip in your apple slices. If you want to make this healthy snack heavier, then you may add some peanut butter to the yogurt before you mix it.

2. DIY trail mix with nuts and dried fruits

There is no denying those store-bought trail mixes like the ones with M&M’s are great as quick grab-and-go snacks, however, all the added sugar is not ideal at all. So, why don’t you try making your own version of trail mix?

Suggested preparation:

  1. Combine your desired raw ingredients and dried fruits.
  2. If you like, you could also add some traditional ingredients like chocolate or yogurt chips. Again, just make sure that it’s not “too much.”
