Everywhere you look in the dessert department seems to be bursting forth with a smorgasbord of chocolatey goodness.
But, what happens if you’re not really feeling chocolate?
Of course, there’s always the classic option of doughnuts or a half-stale cake from the bakery department but, let’s face it, those rarely hit the sweet spot we’re hoping for.
Thankfully, this mom has just the recipe to satisfy your sweet tooth with something light and full of flavor.
We’re talking the good old standard of many a potluck, here.
Most know it as “Pineapple Fluff”.
Now, there are many, many variations of this tried and true fruity dessert, but it’s always a few basic ingredients to make up the base.
That’s what this recipe covers.
After you’ve made the basic foundation, you can take the texture and flavor of this dessert virtually anywhere.
The 3 main ingredients you will need in any variation of this recipe are:
- 20 oz. can of crushed pineapple
- 3.4 oz box of instant vanilla pudding
- 1 container of whipped topping (8 oz.)
- **Marshmallows**
The marshmallows are technically optional, but they’re really not optional. Know what I’m saying?
The steps are as easy as the ingredient list.
Mix the first two ingredients well, then fold in the last. Now, technically, you’re all done.
Just let it chill and you go do the same for a few hours and you can call it a wrap. Or…
This could be where things get interesting, depending on how adventurous your clan is feeling.
Some classic add-ins recommended by the host of the below recipe include a coconut whipped topping and adding in another fruit, like mandarin.
But viewers of this recipe saw far more potential in it.
“Sliced bananas on top are good too. Such a simple delicious recipe,” one person suggested.
Another particularly adventurous person wrote, “I’ve used this as a cake frosting on just plan yellow cake bake on a jelly roll pan. Wonderful!”
Other suggestions include adding toasted coconut, marachino cherries, or bananas, and swapping out the vanilla pudding for pistachio pudding (yes, please!).
Yours truly decided to dump it all into a graham cracker crust for an instant, uber-delicious pie.
I will do it again, too.
As you can see, a lot can be done with this simple and delicious little recipe right here, and it really couldn’t be any easier to make.
