What you are trying to achieve is a golden brown cake that is just starting to split on top.

This cake isn’t complete until cold.

You will need a 9″ by 13″ casserole pan at least a couple of inches deep as the cake will rise as it bakes. Having a deeper pan will allow room for your cake to rise.

We can conveniently use the Angel Food Cake Mix because it already contains eggs.

Skip the H₂O.

Instead of adding water to make your cake, you will add the lemon pie filling to make the cake.

It also doesn’t have to be lemon. You can also opt to use other pie fillings in case you want to make other flavors.

I’m already drooling over strawberry and peach.

Be sure to sprinkle some powdered sugar over it right before you serve your cake, if you want an extra zing of sweetness for both the eye and palate.

The cake will look full when you take it out of the oven.

As it cools, you’ll notice shrinking.
