It’s the height of summer for many of us right now and the last thing in the world that any of us want to do is stand in a hot kitchen prepping food for mealtimes.
Unfortunately, that doesn’t mean we can just go without eating until the heat is over. On the other hand, there are a lot of great recipes that don’t require too much effort in the way of cooking.
Some of the best recipes out there only require a few ingredients to make a delectable dish- and the fewer ingredients you have to deal with, the less time you’ll spend working with them in the kitchen.
Here are 12 uber easy and super delicious recipes that require just 3 ingredients – period.
1. Strawberry Chocolate Braid
All you need is some puff pastry, strawberries, and melted chocolate chips to make this a heavenly dream come true for your taste buds.
Just make 5 angled slices in the ends of a rectangular piece of puff pastry, paint on the melted chocolate in the middle, and add your strawberry halves. Braid the sliced pieces of dough over the mixture and pop in the oven at 400℉ for 12 minutes.
2. Broccoli Cheddar Garlic Casserole
This couldn’t be any easier. Lay your broccoli in a casserole dish. In a separate bowl, mix up your minced garlic into the shredded cheddar cheese, then cover the broccoli with it. Bake at 375℉ for 25 minutes and you have a dinner!
3. Teriyaki Chicken
The only thing that’s better than teriyaki chicken is how quick and easy it is to make. Brown chopped up chicken thighs in a frying pan over med-high heat. Add in soy sauce and brown sugar, then continue cooking until chicken is done and sauce has thickened.
4. Vodka Blackberry Cocktail
Fancy yourself a tasty cocktail? Say no more! Just mix a little blackberry jam with some lemon juice and dose it with a shot or two of vodka and there you have it – a little slice of heaven in a glass!
5. BBQ Chicken Tenders
The best part about this recipe is that you can make quite a few of them with just one large chicken breast. First, slice a large breast into medallions. Then, roll in BBQ sauce and then do the same in bread crumbs, making sure all sides are covered.
Bake at 375℉ for 15 minutes. Pull them out and brush another layer of BBQ sauce on them until completely covered. Bake for another 10 minutes and they’re ready.
6. Jalapeño Poppers
This is a classic recipe and a favorite at every gathering! Just slice your peppers in half lengthwise, remove all the seeds, fill with cream cheese, and wrap with a half a slice of bacon.
Bake at 400℉ for 20 – 25 minutes and then watch them disappear!
7. Cookies & Cream Truffles
Got a sweet tooth? These are sure to cure it. Just pulverize chocolate sandwich cookies in your food processor until they’re the consistency of fine soil. Mix thoroughly with your cream cheese then chill in the fridge until it firms up.
In the meanwhile, melt white chocolate chips until creamy, then drop your chilled dough into the melted chocolate until it’s covered on all sides. Sprinkle with remaining cookie crumbles and you have yourself some truffles.
8. Mac & Cheese
You can’t go wrong with a creamy bowl of homemade mac & cheese – especially when it’s so easy to make! Just bring some milk to a boil, add in elbow pasta, and cook until tender. Then mix in shredded cheddars cheese and you’ll have a dish that beats the pants off of whatever Kraft is trying to serve you.
9. Banana pancakes
Breakfast doesn’t get any simpler than this! Mash up one banana in a bowl. Add 2 eggs and ¼ tsp. of cinnamon and thoroughly mix into a batter. Then, just fry up as you would any other pancake and indulge guilt-free!
10. Flourless Blueberry and Chocolate Muffins
Just mash up 9 bananas with one cup of your favorite nut butter (did someone say Nutella?) until thoroughly combined. Then, divide the batter in half. To one bowl, add ½ a cup of cocoa powder and to the other add 2½ cups of blueberries.
Scoop batter into greased muffin tins and bake at 350℉ for roughly 20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
11. Breakfast cookies of many kinds
Just mash up 2 bananas with 1 cup of oats to get the base mix. Then add whatever topping you like – chocolate chunks, slivered almonds, cranberries, walnuts, shredded coconut – whatever your heart desires! Bake at 350℉ for 12 minutes and you’re out the door with some tasty cookies!
12. Chocolate cereal treats
Killing cravings never tasted so good. Melt small marshmallows over low heat, stirring constantly. Then mix in rice crispies cereal along with your favorite chocolate candies.
Stir until combined then press your mixture into a square baking dish lined with parchment paper. Refrigerate for 30 minutes or more and then dig in!
