Are you in the mood for some delicious, fluffy donuts but don’t want to wait around for the dough to rise?

Well, you’re in for a treat! This quick and easy donut recipe requires just two ingredients and a few minutes of your time.

These no-yeast fried donuts are just as soft and melt-in-your-mouth as their traditional yeast-raised counterparts.

Making these delectable donuts is a piece of cake.

All you need is self-rising flour and yogurt. Can’t find these ingredients?

No worries, there are substitutes you can use, including milk in place of the yogurt and plain flour and baking soda or powder for the self-rising flour.

As you mix the dough, you’ll notice it’s quite sticky and soft.

Resist the temptation to add more flour; just make sure the ingredients are well combined to form a uniform dough.

Now, we’re ready to fry! No waiting or resting needed for this recipe.

Transfer the dough into a piping bag fitted with a round tip, or if you prefer, use a Ziploc bag or even a spoon to dollop the mixture into the hot oil.

Preheat your oil to around 160 to 170 degrees Celsius (320 to 330 Fahrenheit).

It’s important to maintain the right temperature for frying, so keep an eye on the donuts to ensure they’re bubbling and sizzling around the edges at all times.

When you drop the dough into the oil, you might see the donuts sink to the bottom of the pan for a few seconds. Don’t fret, this is completely normal.

They’ll float back up as soon as the baking powder in the self-rising flour kicks in. Use a spatula to move the donuts around, ensuring they cook evenly.

Fry them until they turn golden, then place them on paper towels to drain any excess oil.

Now it’s time for the toppings.

The dough itself doesn’t contain any sugar, so the sweetness will come from the toppings. The first option is plain sugar donuts. Just toss the freshly fried donuts in plain sugar, and you’ll have a simple yet delightful treat.

The second option is glazed donuts.

To make the glaze, you’ll need melted butter, powdered sugar, and warm milk. Mix these ingredients well, then toss the donuts in the glaze, coating them entirely.

Use a slotted spoon to shake off any excess glaze and place the donuts on a rack with a plate underneath to catch any drips. The glaze will set, giving you that familiar Krispy Kreme donut texture.

The last option is chocolate glazed donuts.

Instead of making a new glaze from scratch, simply add some cocoa powder or melted chocolate to the leftover glaze.

The amount of cocoa powder you add depends on how chocolatey you want the donuts to be. Coat the donuts entirely in the chocolate glaze, allowing the excess to drip off.

These donuts are incredibly soft and have a beautiful bounce to them, just like yeast-raised donuts.

You won’t be able to tell the difference between regular yeast-raised donuts and these quick and easy alternatives. They’re perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth without spending hours in the kitchen.
