Everyone loves burgers! You’ll rarely see someone who doesn’t. Burgers and hamburgers are one of our all-time favorites in any dine-in restaurant or fast-food chain. A meal wouldn’t be complete without a mouth-watering burger, wouldn’t you agree?

However, if you live far from the city, it would still require you to take a long drive just to satisfy your cravings. Driving back and forth could be a tedious journey, and nobody loves that, right?

That’s why a fast-food chain has decided to bring their kitchen closer to our homes!

Whataburger’s first-ever food truck!

Yes, that is right! This San Antonio-based fast-food chain unveiled its food-truck at a drive-thru event.

It’s their way of showing their appreciation and giving back to San Antonio, Texas’ educators. The event was also in celebration of Whataburger’s 70th anniversary.

The beautiful event was held at the DoSeum parking lot (2800 Broadway, San Antonio), August 6 (Thursday) at 8 A.M. Apart from the free food treat from the mobile kitchen, it also included some giveaways like classroom supplies.

FYI: The DoSeum is a 2-story museum for children that promotes learning & discovery through interactive exhibits & creative programs.

Whataburger is an American fast-food chain, headquartered and based in San Antonio, Texas. As you could probably tell from the restaurant’s name alone, they specialize in hamburgers.

The company was founded by Harmon Dobson and Paul Burton. They opened their first restaurant in Corpus Christi, Texas, back in 1950.

A little bit of history about burgers.

A burger or a hamburger is a type of sandwich that has one or more cooked patties made of ground meat, (reinventions were also made wherein people are making ground vegetables) usually beef placed inside a bread roll or buns. The history of the burger has already come a long way, and different variations of add-ons have already been discovered to complement its usual juicy patty filling.

According to Wikipedia:

“Hamburgers are often served with cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, bacon, or chiles; condiments such as ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, relish, or a “special sauce”, often a variation of Thousand Island dressing; and are frequently placed on sesame seed buns. A hamburger topped with cheese is called a cheeseburger.”

Etymology

“The term hamburger originally derives from Hamburg, Germany’s second-largest city. Hamburger in German is the demonym of Hamburg, similar to frankfurter and wiener, names for other meat-based foods and demonyms of the cities of Frankfurt and Vienna (in German Wien) respectively.”

The new Whataburger food truck was built in partnership with none other than Cruising Kitchens, the leading custom food truck builder and mobile business fabricator in the world.

The food truck features 24-feet of cooking space powered by a 30,000-watt generator. The food-truck being built particularly for business will soon be on a multi-state tour by next year (2021) and promises to bring their spicy ketchup and Whataburgers to customers in existing markets.

Whataburger also plans to use the food-truck during natural disasters and emergency events. It’s another way for them to give back, not only to their patrons but also to the whole public.

How did they come up with this idea?

Rich Scheffler, Vice President of Marketing and Innovation for Whataburger said in a statement written on the Whataburger site.

“We wanted a way to connect even more with our communities and to introduce Whataburger to new customers in a new and exciting way and this truck is a showstopper.”

“We have worked on the idea of a Food Truck for years, but we didn’t want it to roll out of the garage until it could turn heads and bring our restaurant-quality food to the road. This truck fits the bill.”
