If you love cooking but don’t have the budget to buy yourself a pricey stove, then this tutorial video is just right for you.
With the help of a pair (or maybe more) of a craftsman’s hand, a couple of building materials like cement, bricks, and plywood, you can now build your own stove at home.
The best thing about this is that aside from its low-cost, it is also eco-friendly because it’s a non-smoke emitting version of a stove, just how cool is that?
Stoves over the years…
There are many types of stoves right now but did you know that the word “stove” was first known as early as the 19th century? Since then we have different types of stoves like the kitchen stoves, wood-burning stoves, or coal stoves as they call it, and many others.
“A wood-burning stove (or wood burner or log burner in the UK) is a heating appliance capable of burning wood fuel and wood-derived biomass fuel, such as sawdust bricks. Generally the appliance consists of a solid metal (usually cast iron or steel) closed firebox, often lined by fire brick, and one or more air controls (which can be manually or automatically operated depending upon the stove).”
On the other hand…
“A kitchen stove, often called simply a stove or a cooker, is a kitchen appliance designed for the purpose of cooking food. Kitchen stoves rely on the application of direct heat for the cooking process and may also contain an oven, used for baking. “Cookstoves” (also called “cooking stoves” or “wood stoves”) are heated by burning wood or charcoal; “gas stoves” are heated by gas; and “electric stoves” by electricity. A stove with a built-in cooktop is also called a range.”
A global health concern
Due to alarming concerns about air pollution, over the years, there have been tremendous efforts exerted to improve the designs of the stoves. Take as an example the pellet stove. This is a type of clean-burning stove, and air-tight stoves are another type that burns the wood more completely to reduce the amount of the resulted combustion by-products.
“A pellet stove is a stove that burns compressed wood or biomass pellets to create a source of heat for residential and sometimes industrial spaces. By steadily feeding fuel from a storage container (hopper) into a burn pot area, it produces a constant flame that requires little to no physical adjustments. Today’s central heating systems operated with wood pellets as a renewable energy source can reach an efficiency factor of more than 90%.”
Since then, people keep on reinventing, making contributions that will help save the environment.
This tutorial video is just one of those, as described in the video itself, this one is considered a pellet stove.
A Youtube channel called “GOOD IDEA” is filled with video tutorials of DIY items at home, and it speaks straight about the channel’s name.
It’s a time-lapse video showing the step-by-step procedures in making a smoke-free cement stove.
With the help of some bricks, cement, plywood, and a couple of tree branches, he was able to come up with a design that will not emit smoke during the burning and cooking process.
This video went viral, gaining over 24 million views in less than 3 weeks since it was uploaded!
That humongous number only speaks for the video itself.
It might have captured the online community’s attention in many ways, like the simple process, the end results, and ultimately, the good effects of this stove on the environment.
Watch the video tutorial yourself and be amazed by the result.
