We all love pizza!
It’s one of the most consumed fast food in the country, with an estimated three billion pizzas sold every year. Some of us make our pizza at home. But if you want to try something different, this is one recipe that you might like.
Try this pizza with a twist. We mean with a literal twist.
It’s like creating your pizza but without the round shape and triangular slices. Instead, you create some sort of pizza sandwich and twist them. Ready to make one?
Here are the ingredients:
For the dough:
- 7 oz. warm milk
- 7 oz. warm water
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1 egg
- 2 ¼ tsps. dry yeast
- 1 tbsp. granulated sugar
- 5.5 cups flour
- 1 tsp. salt
For the filling:
- 1 tbsp. tomato paste
- 1 cup cheddar cheese
- Parsley
- 1 tbsp melted butter
Also, set aside 1 egg yolk.
First, combine all the first six ingredients.
Stir them all until they’re adequately mixed. Next, pour in the flour and salt. Fold and stir the mixture until its consistency is that of the dough.
Once the mixture gets thick enough, use your hands to continue kneading.
Roll and shape the dough into a ball and place it in the bowl. Cover it with cling wrap and let it rest for 40 minutes. It will rise to twice its size after.
Remove the dough from the bowl and knead it again.
Cut the dough into two equal parts and roll it. Set one aside as you flatten the other using a rolling pin. Create a rectangular flat dough and make sure to shape the sides.
You can roll the first dough around the rolling pin and set it aside if you have an extra rolling pin. If not, you can place it on a tray.
Do the same thing with the other half of the dough.
Make sure that you roll it in an equal or smaller size than the first one. Now it’s time to add the rest of the ingredients.
Since this one makes pizza twists, your usual pizza toppings will become its filling.
Spread the tomato paste evenly on the dough.
Add some cheddar cheese and chopped parsley. You can add more ingredients if you like, but these are already good for this recipe.
Next, cover this with the other dough sheet you set aside.
Press the edges to seal it. You can also stretch the dough a bit to make sure it covers the entire area.
Then, using a pizza cutter, slice the dough into even vertical strips and then cut them again in half. Brush the strips with melted butter.
Take one side or half of the dough and place it on top of the other.
Use a barbecue stick to press the middle. This helps squeeze out the dough, exposing the filling. Grab them on both ends and start to twist them. Place them on a pan, and brush some egg yolk on top.
Bake in the oven at 352 degrees Fahrenheit for twenty minutes.
After twenty minutes, your pizza twists look so sumptuous and ready to eat. It’s best for snacks or a side dish, even an entire meal if you eat two or more.
