He’s already on his way to earning a million subscribers, and his channel has over 142 million accumulated views. In this particular video, he’ll show you how to bake potatoes using a crock-pot.
Here’s everything you’ll need:
• Potatoes
• Olive oil
• Salt
• Foil
• Slow cooker/Crock-pot
Here’s how David does his baked potato:
• Following the standard way of baking potatoes, you should not forget to wash them. Afterward, you could either poke holes with a fork or score the skin just a little bit with a knife.
Get brushin’
The next step is to gently brush the potatoes with olive oil and sprinkling salt on top of them. That way, it will help draw out the moisture from the potato while absorbing the flavor at the same time. That’s how you get ’em nice and crispy!
Bring on the foil
Grab your aluminum foil sheets and use them to wrap the spuds, fully covering them.
Place, and walk away
You can then place potatoes in the slow cooker and raise the setting whichever you like. For the LOW setting, the usual cooking time would be up to 7-8 hours. 4-5 hours if in a HIGH setting.
The waiting game
Wait until you think it’s time, and poke one with a scissor to make sure they are tender enough for you. If not, you can put them back on for a few more minutes.
Serve.
There might not be too much of a difference to oven-baked potatoes but they sure are tasty. And what tastes better than simplicity?
Why is using a slow cooker many times better than the oven?
Sure, the oven can be used to bake plenty of things, plus it would be much quicker than using a crock-pot. However, for those who do not have an oven, investing in a slow cooker is a wise start until you can afford an oven. Besides, this kitchen gadget is versatile and could be used with plenty of things.
With it, you can also save a considerable amount of space in your kitchen. Not to mention just how easy and low-maintenance it is to cook with them.
Plus, if you have errands to go to, you can leave the slow cooker for hours and come back to it with a perfectly cooked meal. If you already have one, you can take time to learn more interesting recipes from Dave using a crock-pot.
