We’ll have to create an apple mixture and a separate topping for this slow cooker recipe. Take the flour, light brown sugar, white sugar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg and salt and stir them well in a medium-sized bowl. After you get a well-blended mixture, add the butter after you chop it into small dices. Feel free to get into the mixture with your fingers until this topping has a few coarse crumbs and is more consistent. Add the chopped walnuts as well.

Take another small bowl and whisk in the granulated sugar, lemon zest, the cornstarch, nutmeg, and cinnamon. This’ll be our dry seasoning for the apples in the slow cooker.

Peel, core, and dice all of the apples into smaller cubs. Throw them in your slow cooker and add the dry seasoning we just whisked together. Add the lemon juice too and stir well.

Now that the apples are in the slow cooker, grab the walnut topping and cover the apple dices evenly.

Set the slow cooker on low for four hours, or if you’re in a hurry, two hours on the maximum setting. After this initial cooking period, open the lid a little bit and let it cook until the top layer of the mixture has started to crisp.
