With every recipe I try, I just fall more and more in love with my slow cooker. It’s just so convenient! You just set it and forget it, literally.

The best part is the fact that the dish you’re cooking doesn’t taste any different than if you were to cook it on your own without a slow cooker. It tastes just as flavorful (if not better!) so you aren’t sacrificing any quality.

Take-out beef and bell pepper is a favorite in my family, so the other day, we decided to find a homemade recipe, and it’s amazing. Using just a slow cooker, you can recreate this take-out classic right at home. Find out how below.

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds beef chuck
  • 2 cups bell pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 medium onion, peeled and cut in half
  • 1 cup broth
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoon freeze dried garlic
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoon cornstarch

Directions:

Place the thinly sliced beef chuck on the bottom of the slow cooker. Add onions and bell peppers on top.

Sprinkle salt, pepper, and garlic over the meat, onions, and peppers.

Add broth on top and cook on high heat for 4 hours.

In a separate pot, mix 1/2 cup water and 2 tablespoons of corn starch. Take 1 cup of liquid from the meat & pepper mixture and add it to the pot. Cook this on medium heat until it boils.

Cook 2 minutes past boil and add this mixture back to the slow cooker.

Serve with hot rice or noodles and enjoy!
