Do you have a favorite dessert? Although not all of us have a sweet tooth, dessert remains a pretty important meal for those of us who do. Some of us might be satisfied with a simple package of Oreos, others might want to have a tub of ice cream on hand. Those who want to take things up a notch might even try to make a cake, a pie or some other baked good. Still, sometimes it pays to think a little outside of the box with your dessert—and maybe to incorporate a little bit of fruit.

To that end, we have a great fruit-based dessert that you can make in your slow cooker. It’s a delicious, slow-cooked peach cobbler recipe that is super easy to whip together.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 4 cups of peaches (fresh or frozen)
  • 3/4 cups of brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
  • 1 frozen pie pastry shell
  • coarse sugar

Here’s what you do:

1. Throw your peach slices, brown sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg and lemon juice in a bowl and mix them together. Once they’re all combined, throw them into your slow cooker but make sure the bottom of the slow cooker has been greased first!

2. Take your pie pastry shell and break it up into various sized pieces (though make sure they’re not too small). Throw the pieces on top of the other ingredients and then sprinkle coarse sugar on top of everything.

3. Once all the ingredients are combined, line the top of your slow cooker with paper towels that can absorb any of the excess moisture that may form during the cooking process. Once it’s all set, cover the cooker and set it on high for three and a half hours.

4. After the time is up, your dessert will be ready! Scoop it out and serve hot—and don’t forget to add whipped cream and ice cream!

Although this recipe is specifically for peaches, don’t think you can’t use your slow cooker to make other cobbler-style desserts as well! If this recipe isn’t your exact cup of tea, try doing the same thing with mixed berries, apples or pears. The possibilities are endless and no matter what you choose, you and your family are sure to keep coming back to this recipe.
