To make:

In a large bowl, combine your flour, salt, and baking powder.

Mix all three ingredients really well. Then, gradually add your water.

It’s best not to put all the water all at once, or you’ll risk having very wet dough.

The best thing to do is to mix the dry ingredients and then slowly incorporate your water. Mix and see if you need to add more.

If your dough is too wet or sticky, you can add more flour. If your dough is too dry, add a little bit of water.

Mix them all together.

You can constantly add little flour to avoid the dough sticking to your fingers.

Knead until the dough no longer sticks to your hands.

Let it rise.

Cover with cloth or plastic and let your dough rise for about 20 to 30 minutes.

Before checking back with your dough, prepare a tray and line it with parchment paper.

Then, you can also start heating your pan with oil and prepare another container where you will put your cooked Navajo bread.

Let’s go back to the dough.

Dust your hands and your dough with flour and start dividing them. Using your hand, create little dough balls.

Dip in flour before placing in the baking tray. This will ensure that the dough won’t stick to the tray.

Time to shape

Once you are done, get one dough ball and flatten each one.

You can use your hands or a rolling pin.

Then fry your dough.

Check every once in a while to avoid burning your Navajo bread.

Do this to all the dough balls.

You can now serve your Navajo pieces of bread warm.

Eat it as it is and enjoy the warm soft and tasty bread or top it with butter and honey for breakfast.

You can also serve it with beans, tomatoes, cheese, and cabbage topped with sour cream.

If you love to try out new things, you can top it with pizza ingredients too.

There are so many ways for you to enjoy tasty bread.
