Let’s all admit it: there’s no better breakfast than pancakes, bacon, and eggs. Everyone loves it and it’s a winner every single time.
But preparing the perfect bacon strips can be tricky. Sometimes it gets burnt, others it’s not crispy enough, while it leaves such a mess behind when cooked on the stovetop- the traditional way.
The good news is that you don’t have to do it like this anymore. There’s a better way to cook your bacon. It saves time, requires minimum involvement on your part, and doesn’t leave a mess behind.
YouTuber Delilah from The Simple Way cooking channel shares her tips for preparing the best bacon strips in the air fryer.
For those of us who had never thought of this before, this sounds like a brilliant idea! Simple and easy, let’s see how Delilah does it.
The home cook owns a certain brand of air fryer, but it definitely works whatever air fryer you have in your kitchen.
So, she takes a package of bacon strips and then arranges them on the air fryer’s racks. She makes sure they’re not overlapping, while she also refuses to cut them if they don’t fit on the rack perfectly.
She prefers to lift them up a little bit to make sure they fit. She doesn’t want to waste any bacon and, honestly, who would blame her for that?
The pro tip she shares at this point is that she takes some aluminum foil and covers the drip tray with it so that she doesn’t have to clean up the mess that burnt grease will leave behind after cooking.
So, drip tray at the bottom, and two racks full of bacon strips above it, and she’s ready. She cooks the bacon at 370 degrees F for eight minutes.
Once the eight minutes have passed, she opens the air fryer and just rotates the racks in order to get all of the bacon strips to become as crispy as possible.
She cooks them for another minute and there it is, perfect bacon to accompany your favorite meal.
Delilah explains that at this point you can place the bacon on a paper towel to absorb the extra grease, although she admits she sometimes skips this step herself because she wants all the flavor there.
So, this is totally up to you.
And there you have it, perfectly cooked, crispy bacon, better than ever.
Now, as Delilah explains, the benefit of using an air fryer for this job is that the air circulation it offers ensures the final product will be crispy and perfectly cooked without needing to be flipped over at any point.
However, if you still want to do it the traditional way- aka on the stovetop- make sure you follow a couple of pro tips.
Don’t use any oil, start with a cold pan, and wear an apron and mittens to make sure you won’t be hurt by hot grease in case of splattering.
