Other than Thanksgiving, Christmas is one of those holidays you want to spend with family or your closest friends.
But we all know one of the biggest burdens during gatherings is cooking. Planning and preparing all those delectable dishes can be hectic.
But the desserts don’t have to be.
Shopping for so many ingredients, cooking multiple dishes at once, and washing all the dirty pots and pans right after- that is a lot.
Good thing we can always look forward to a sumptuous meal and a serving of our favorite holiday treats.
This recipe is well worth it.
The first things that come to mind for holiday desserts are pies, puddings, trifles, cookies, and cakes, and a whole lot more.
But we all know our favorites are usually the homemade chocolates.
These ones only take 3 ingredients.
You’ll need:
- 14 ounces of digestive biscuits (you can also use graham crackers or unfrosted animal cookies)
- 2 or 3 ripe bananas
- 2 ½ cups of chocolate
That’s it! Ready to get started?
First, crush the biscuits
You can do this either in a food processor or you can put them in a zip-lock bag and use a rolling pin to crush them to a fine consistency.
They should be finely crushed as they will later act like flour to your dough. Once done, place everything in a bowl.
Next, mash the bananas.
You can simply use a fork so that it won’t get too mushy. Mash it until there are no big chunks of banana left.
Pour the bananas into the biscuits.
Mix both ingredients until they start to blend. Then, you can use your hands to knead them into a dough.
Make sure that it’s smooth and without any uneven lumps or portions.
Once done, mold into round pieces.
Get a portion of the dough and form a walnut-sized ball by rolling it between your palms. Place them in a pan and set them aside.
Time to melt some chocolates!
Slice your chocolate into tiny pieces so they melt quickly. Put it in a bowl on top of a pot of water and melt the chocolate.
Coat the balls you made.
Slowly place them on a tray lined with parchment paper. Place them in the fridge until the chocolate solidifies. This only takes about 10 minutes or so.
Remove from fridge for final touches.
Place the remaining chocolate in a piping bag and drizzle some chocolate on top. Place them back in the fridge and for at least 10 minutes. Then, you’re ready to serve!
Commenters made some alternative suggestions:
Others suggested replacing the banana with peanut butter or adding a bit of it to the mixture.
Some thought it would be good to sprinkle or coat the chocolate ball with crushed nuts before popping them in the freezer.
