Nougat is a classic sweet treat often enjoyed during the holidays.

Eating nougat often brings back fond memories of an aunt’s house or a fun reunion with extended family.

The popular confection originates from Mediterranean countries and has variations in Italy, France, Spain, and the Middle East.

While nougat has roots in those countries, the delicious treat is now eaten and enjoyed worldwide, from Asia to the United States.

Here’s a quick, easy, no-bake nougat recipe you can make at home using only four ingredients. Enjoy!

First, place 200 grams of almonds in a pot with water and boil for three minutes. Drain the almonds after.

Remove the pot from the stove and use a strainer to drain the almonds.

Discard the water and place the boiled almonds in a plate or bowl.

Peel the almonds and keep the skin in a separate bowl.

After you’ve peeled all the almonds, place the almonds on a baking tray lined with wax paper. Separate and spread the almonds on the tray.

Bake or roast the almonds in the oven for 10 to 15 minutes at 170 degrees Celsius.

Remove the roasted almonds from the tray and let cool for a few minutes.

After, place the roasted almonds on a plate and set aside.

Get one egg. Separate the yolk from the egg white. Use an electric whisk to whip the egg white until soft peaks form. Set the egg white mixture aside.

Mix 125 grams of white sugar in a pan with 125 grams of honey.

Mix the sugar and honey over low heat until the sugar is fully dissolved and you have a liquid mixture.

Get your egg white and begin incorporating the egg whites into your sugar and honey mixture.

When you’ve fully combined the egg white, transfer the pan back to your stove and continue stirring the mixture over low heat.

You will end up with a creamy white mixture.

You’ll know when its ready when it’s almost nougat-like!

Get your peeled almonds and mix it into the nougat mixture.

Ensure that you mix them well together and the almonds are fully incorporated into the nougat.

Take note that the mixture will be very sticky at this point.

Once you have your nougat and almond mixture, transfer the nougat into a rectangular baking dish.

We recommend using a non-stick silicone dish, so it’s easier to remove the nougat from the container later on.

Refrigerate the nougat for 12 hours.

After 12 hours, your nougat is ready! Remove the dish from the refrigerator and carefully remove the hardened nougat from the baking dish. Place on a chopping board for easy cutting.

Cut the nougat into rectangular slices or squares, whichever shape you prefer. Transfer the nougat to a serving dish, and then you’re done!

It’s time to enjoy this delicious nougat with your family and loved ones.
