If you’ve been searching for an eggcellent way to cook soft-boiled eggs, look no further. As you probably know, they’re kind with the cooked outside and warm, runny center. Mmmm…

YouTuber Cathy Diep created a video titled “Perfect Soft-Boiled Egg Every Time,” and many people have been agreeing that they do indeed turn out perfect!

Step 1:

Fill a pot with half an inch of water. This measurement is important according to Cathy, so be sure to follow it! Then, set the pot over high-heat and bring it to a boil.

Step 2:

Once the water is boiling, carefully add your egg to the pot.

Step 3:

Now, place a cover on the pot and set a timer for six-minutes and 30 seconds. Make sure you don’t lift the cover until the timer goes off!

While it’s cooking, here’s a fun egg fact! Did you know that if you accidentally drop a raw egg on the floor (which can be a gooey mess), salt can help make it easier to clean up?

Just pour a bunch of salt on the egg. Cuisine at Home explains:

“The salt absorbs the liquid and solidifies the egg, which you can then scoop right up — no more chasing it around on the floor.”

Ok, back to cooking the perfect soft-boiled egg!

Step 4:

After six-minutes and 30 seconds are up, drain the egg. Run cold tap water over it for 30-60 seconds.

Step 5:

Gently peel your egg until all of the shell pieces are removed. Are you getting eggcited? It’s almost ready to eat!

Step 6:

Now, you could dig into your perfect soft-boiled egg at this point. But to make it an even fancier experience, place it in an egg cup and slice the top off.
