What is it about ice cream that can just fill us with joy? Something about the sweet treat, especially on those hot summer days just hits the spot. The problem with ice cream, however, is how much you can eat of it. Rather, how much you SHOULD eat of it. Most ice cream is loaded with sugar and fat and so, not really conducive to a healthy lifestyle.
Is it possible to make ice cream that is just as satisfying, but without any extra sugar?
Of course it is!
And the best news is that it’s actually quite simple to make! YouTube food vlogger Schnelle Rezepte shows us his remarkably easy and comparatively healthy way of making ice cream.
And it takes just one minute!
And, you only need two ingredients, bananas and cocoa powder.
It’s a-peeling!
The first step in making our delicious sugar-free ice cream is the same as any recipe involving bananas. It’s peeling them of course! Who would want to eat a banana with the gross peel? Next, slice up the banana into slices approximately 1/2 an inch thick.
Hey, cool down!
Lay all of your slices down on a plate or tray and place them into the freezer. This recipe is great if you plan ahead and freeze your bananas the night before so that they’re ready to go. A great idea is to freeze a big ol’ batch and take some out whenever you need. That way you can whip your ice cream up whenever you want. In some places, you can even buy frozen bananas in the grocery store.
Portion, and blend.
Place approximately 1 banana’s worth of slices into the blender per serving. You can create as many in one go as you like, just adjust the proportions of your other ingredients accordingly. the great news is, you only need one other ingredient.
Administer the cocoa.
Add cocoa to the blender. You want to use about 2 tbsp of cocoa powder for every banana you’re using. Any more, and it’ll be too bitter, any less and it’ll be too weak in flavor.
Mix it up, mix it good!
Turn that blender on and mix your ingredients up. You may need to stop, stir the loose bits around and mix again.
Keep it smooth.
You’ll know when it’s smooth and creamy. You know the consistency of normal ice cream? Well, there you go! This should be the same, just without the calories.
And there you have it!
Serve your ice cream into a cup, and serve it up. Feel free to alter to your own taste, you can add more cocoa powder, or shake it up with some other flavors. Add peanut butter, salt, anything you like!
In fact, Schnelle Rezepte’s video even has an extra way of preparing a different flavor that’s a little fruiter!
