Love corndogs? Well, this guy added a little twist to it.
This cheesy (and stretchy) treat will take your corndog game to the next level. We’ll give you the recipe below.
But first, let’s talk about why we love corndogs
Who doesn’t like that meaty, juicy hotdog inside a crunchy, deep-fried cornmeal batter on the outside? It’s a great snack that is a notch higher than your hotdog on a bun.
The corndog was patented in 1972 by Stanley S. Jenkins.
Though this claim was highly contested, claiming that the Texas State Fair had it first in 1942, Stanley was a step ahead. There is still a lot of debate on who got to do it first, but he holds the patent- there’s no debating that.
Corndogs are such a big deal in America that we celebrate Corndog Day every March 19.
This is celebrated during basketball championship season and became a staple snack for sports lovers, and not just basketball. Any sports fan knows this guilty pleasure of a treat is a go-to snack while watching sports in the arena or at home with friends.
So, if you want to wow your friends with this tasty treat, here’s an excellent recipe for you. This guy just added one key ingredient: mozzarella cheese. And we’re telling you, you’re gonna love it.
The ingredients are very simple.
You will need:
- Sausage (hotdog or cheese dog would go well, too)
- Mozzarella cheese
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 Tsp Salt
- 1 1/4 tsp. Sugar
- 1 Egg
- 1 cup of Milk
- 1 cup of Breadcrumbs
- Cooking oil
First, cut the sausages in half.
Slice an ample size of mozzarella cheese that would go well with your sausage. Skewer both with a barbecue stick.
In a mixing bowl, mix the flour, salt, sugar, egg, and milk.
Mix until there are no lumps left in the mixture. The batter is supposed to be thick or heavy, not runny.
This guy also provided a clever tip on how to cover the skewer with batter.
Pour the batter into a tall and long glass.
Dip the skewer in until it is completely covered.
Place the breadcrumbs in a wide, flat container. Roll the skewer to coat the batter entirely.
Pour enough cooking oil into a deep pan.
Fry for about three minutes in medium heat. Turn to the other side and cook until it is golden brown.
Plate and drizzle with ketchup and mustard.
That’s it. You have a cheesy yet crunchy corndog that everyone will surely love.
