This beautiful song of praise and faith was written by Canadian singer Leonard Cohen. It was originally released back in 1984 on his album titled, Various Positions.

The song made just a little success the first time but soon regained popularity through John Cale’s recording which inspired a recording by Jeff Buckley. Since then, the song has been considered as a “baseline” for secular hymns.

It has also been featured in the animated film Shrek back in 2001. With it’s racking fame, the song was covered by many professionals and amateurs, with over 300 known versions. This song has been used in films, televised talent contests, and television soundtracks.

Among the many people who made their own rendition of the song ‘Hallelujah’, is Katherine Hallam and Jordan Rabjohn.

It looked like someone, probably from their online followers, requested them to sing the song, as Jordan wrote in the video’s description,

“So many of you asked me to sing ‘Hallelujah’ with my Mum so here it is.. how good is her voice!! 💙‍”

Turn your volume up and listen to their flawless duet.

Jordan went off first with the first few lines of the song:

“I’d heard there was a secret chord
That David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don’t really care for music, do you?
Well, it goes like this
The fourth, the fifth, the minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah”

He started it with a soft and soothing voice, it was an early dispatch of his talent right off the bat.

His vocal range was obviously wide enough because he managed to nail each note with so much ease. There were even parts of the song where he placed some rock and roll-like touches near the end.

(Note: The original version of this song evokes both early rock and roll and gospel music.)

Jordan’s mom was equally as talented as him. The power of her voice put the heartfelt lyrics of the song into an emphatic delivery.

She was pitch-perfect with each line and there’s nothing more that you could ask from her. It was nothing but a flamboyant display of talent from this mother-son duet.

It’s a splendid execution of vocal calisthenics from both Jordan and his mom.

The runs, the vibratos, transitions, low to head tones, and most importantly the piercing falsetto- everything was dropped into their proper places, which made their entire performance beyond compare to any other duets on the internet.

In the latter part of the video, they asked the online viewers what they would like them to sing next.

He plays drums, guitar, and bass. On top of that, he also sings and records his own music.

Surprisingly, it turned out that Jordan also joined The X Factor UK back in 2017, but prior to that, he’d already released two albums of his own.

He was also a finalist for Open Mic UK in 2016 and named Capital FM’s Vodafone Big Top 40 ‘Future Breaker’ in the same year.

With all these achievements and many more to come, he’s definitely one guy to look forward to in the music industry.

A timely song.

Everyone in the world is shaken by the worldwide outbreak of the coronavirus. During these trying times when tomorrow is no longer guaranteed, more than anything else, we need to keep our faith in God and believe that He will eradicate this virus all at once.
