Do you have a favorite dessert recipe? If we’re being honest, dessert is basically the best of all the meals. Breakfast has some great options, lunch has its sandwiches and dinner is important, but dessert is the one that we all actually look forward to. Who hasn’t fallen in love with a heaping bowl of ice cream before? Or a delicious and well-frosted slice of cake on a birthday? Though there are too many varieties to list, dessert is always a good time. Still, if you’re throwing a bigger party, sometimes you need to step your dessert game up a notch.
Fortunately, we have the perfect recipe for just that purpose. Today, we’re making a delicious candied apple recipe that you can prepare right in your microwave. It’s made out of simple, everyday ingredients and takes very little time to assemble. Although this recipe may be a little too much to keep around the house casually, it’s absolutely perfect if you have a big event coming up and need to keep many different guests satisfied. One try and you’ll be sure to have this one again and again. So let’s get started.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 5 apples
- 2 cups of walnuts
- 1 bar of chocolate
- 1 bunch of grapes
- cinnamon
- toothpicks
Here’s what you do:
1. First, start off by preparing your apples. Use a sharp knife to cut each apple in half and then into quarters. Next, cut off the ends and the skin until you have a rectangular, cored piece. By the end, you should have approximately 20 pieces. Feel free to save the other pieces of apple you shave off as a snack!
2. Once you have your apple chunks, carefully dig out a little hole in the top of each one of them going down towards the middle. Use the back of a spoon or another thin instrument to dig out the middle as necessary. Repeat this process until you’ve cored all of your apple chunks.
3. After that, get out your bowl of walnuts and crunch or chop them up into fine little pieces. When they’re ready, carefully spoon these pieces into the middle of your cored apples all the way up to the top. Though the recipe estimates two cups of walnuts, you may need more or less depending on your process—you’ll also want plenty of extra for the end of the recipe!
4. Next, get out your grapes. Use a toothpick to poke a hole in each grape and set them each carefully on top of the walnut-cored apples.
5. Once that’s done, get your chocolate bar and shave it over a plate or a bowl with your extra chopped walnuts. Mix them together well. In the meantime, put a sprinkle of cinnamon on top of each apple and pop them all in the microwave for three to four minutes, until they get soft and hot.
6. Finally, take a toothpick and stab one through the grape and into the apple for each of your mini desserts. Carefully roll the apple pop around in the pile of chocolate and walnuts and plate them again when you’re finished. After you’re done, you’re ready to eat!
As you can see, this recipe is incredibly easy to put together and doesn’t even require any real cooking to speak of. All you need is to combine the ingredients above in a simple way, pop it all in the microwave and serve it all up on a platter. While this recipe may be a little too much for just one person, your party guests are sure to thank you for it. Give this one a try and let us know how it goes!
