What if somebody told you that could make your own brand of gum right at home? You could choose your own flavor, color, shape and size… the options are limitless! Better yet, what if somebody told you that the recipe takes less than 30 minutes? To make gum that’s perfectly catered to our taste buds and needs? I’m in!
I came across this fun and easy gum recipe for anybody to do. You can even buy all of the ingredients from Amazon in the click of a button. Here are the ingredients you’ll need:
- 1/3 Cup gum mix
- 3 Tablespoons of corn syrup
- 1 Teaspoon of glycerol
- 1/2 Teaspoon of citric acid
- 3/4 Cup of powdered sugar
- Food coloring
- 1/2~2 Teaspoons of flavoring (amount varies upon preference)
Okay, now let’s get started.
First, put the gum mix inside a big microwave-safe bowl.
Add in the corn syrup, the glycerol, the citric acid, and the flavoring.
Place the bowl in a microwave for 60 seconds. Take it out and stir. Put it back in the microwave for 30 seconds. Take it out and stir. Continue this process until it’s all nice and melted together. Then add in the food coloring set the bowl aside.
Take half of the powdered sugar that you have ready and pour it out onto a clean surface. Dig a little hole in the middle of the clump of sugar.
Then take your bowl and pour the gum mixture right into that hole. Let it sit there for 3~5 minutes.
Take some of the powdered sugar and sprinkle it over the top of the mixture. Then, you can start to mix them in together.
Start to knead the mixture the way you would knead bread. Once it starts to get a little sticky, add in some more powered sugar. Continue kneading for 10~15 minutes.
Once you think it is firm enough, wipe off the excess powdered sugar. Put the slab of gum onto a new surface and roll it out. Now all you have to do it chop it up into whatever gum shape you desire. And that’s it, now you’re done! And now you have your own cool brand of gum!
