Never let someone’s opinion become your reality.

The Olympic Games definitely set the bars high for gymnastics. They are strict when it comes to the routines, they have little to zero leeway when it comes to personalizing routines. Therefore, an athlete can’t step too far away from an ordinary gymnastics performance.

Olympic-level gymnasts, or anyone at the elite level, perform incredibly proper routines and that’s the difference between them and gymnasts performing on the collegiate level, where they can pretty much be themselves in their performances.

Early in 2019, Katelyn Ohashi of U.C.L.A. scored a perfect 10 on her routine and pretty soon you’ll know how she did it.

Ohashi is a promising gymnast with so much potential to be an Olympic athlete. Back in 2013, Ohashi won the American Cup and defeated some big names like Simone Biles! She’s a bright star who’s expected to break records in the world of Olympic gymnastics.

Sadly, the world of Olympic gymnastics was not her destiny.

Ohashi sustained injuries and received too much criticism about her body, so she decided to compete on the collegiate level of gymnastics.

At U.C.L.A., she’s allowed to be herself.

Everyone on the team, from her coaches to her teammates, supported her and let her express her true self. There, she was able to embrace her strong and powerful body and no one has ever told her that she doesn’t belong.

She’s not just a mere gymnast, she’s a woman with an immeasurable amount of strength, a talented woman, a fierce but fun athlete, and of course, she is she!

She’s an incredibly talented gymnast with an overflowing, pleasing personality!

In fact, she’s known for her lively and fun-to-watch routines where she showcases her playful side. Back in 2018, she did a Michael Jackson inspired routine and made quite a positive ruckus on social media.

Before she even starts her routine, we’ve noticed something – her SMILE! That’s the perfect face athletes need to have before they do what they do best. After all, it’s all about showing a beautiful performance, so might as well start it with a smile on your face.

When Ohashi begins with her actual routine, the happiness is still there, radiating all around her, inside and out. She bounces here and there all the while maintaining the smile on her face, and of course, her eye-popping flips are downright top-notch.
