Sometimes, you just need a treat to satisfy that sugar craving.

Even those dieting or on a health kick deserve to treat themselves once in a while. The only issue with cooking desserts and treats is that it can be quite time-consuming. You have to buy the ingredients, pull out the cookware, and clean all the dirty dishes afterward.

It doesn’t take a lot of time or effort, but the little bit of work you do put into it will pay off.

Condensed milk is simply regular cow’s milk that has had the water removed from it.

Sweetened condensed milk also has sugar added to it. It is very thick and flavorful. It is used as an ingredient in many dishes and desserts. Some people like to add it to coffee and tea or even drink it straight from the can. It has a lot of different uses and a very long shelf life. Oh, yeah, it’s also tasty.

To make this delicious treat all you have to do is place the can in the boiling pot of water and set a timer for 30 minutes.

When it rings, you should return to add more water to the pot. It is important to add water that is already boiling in the pot because you don’t want to add water that is cold. If you do, the water will stop boiling. You’ll want to repeat this process 4-5 more times such that the can is submerged in boiling water for 2.5 – 3 hours total.

The boiling water creates pressure inside the can and makes something amazing happen.

The sweetened condensed milk in the can begins to caramelize.

It turns into a sweet concoction known as dulce de leche, a tasty caramel-flavored treat. Once the can cools, it can be opened and eaten as desired. You may find that you aren’t able to resist eating it out of the can with a spoon. It is also great to put on top of pies, cake, cookies, or, of course, ice cream.
