A slow stir.

Cook the pears on low heat for 10 minutes. Stir the pears often while they cook. After the 10 minutes is up, add 1/4 cup of water and cook on low for an additional 20 minutes. Keep stirring.

Blend the pears.

Now that your pears are nice and soft, use a blender until smooth.

Add coconut milk.

Pour 2 cups of coconut milk into a separate bowl and add 1/2 tsp of baking soda. Stir to combine.

Heat the milk.

Pour the coconut milk into the pear mixture and stir. The mixture will bubble but this is fine…just keep stirring while it cooks.

Heat on low for one hour.

Put on some music or your favorite show and grab a chair. This might be the ‘slow and steady’ part of the recipe but the result will be worth the wait.

Stir the sauce continuously.

The mixture will slowly turn a golden brown color.
