We use baking and cookie sheets for so many things. Over time, they become ‘burned’ looking, dirty, and have baked-on food.
Whether it’s roasting some veggies for dinner or tossing some pizza bagels on for a snack, sheet pans are a home cook’s best friend.
With all that use, they don’t hold up too well in the “looks” department for that long!
Burned oil, sugar, and more can develop this super hard patina all over your pans that all the elbow grease and soap in the world won’t remove.
Usually, we just resign ourselves to using aluminum foil on them forever or just tossing them out.
One YouTube channel may have found the easiest solution to dirt sheet pans ever!
Kitchen Tips Online, well, provides kitchen tips online.
Mike, the man in the video, shows us exactly how to clean our sheet pans and have them sparkling again.
From what he says, it’s super easy and worth the time, especially if you value reusing what you have instead of tossing old things.
Here’s what he recommends.
This video has over 3 million views on it and getting close to 4.
In the world of YouTube, that’s a TON!
Mike presents an old pan that he borrowed from a neighbor that is planning on using as his “test subject” for us to see!
On one half he is going to use his easy method and the other half he’s going to use a popular internet method.
The pan is super dirty and prime for testing.
It’s covered in burned-on crud and is heavily oxidized from a life of dishwasher cycles.
The first thing he does is place it in the sink and spray his special cleaning solution.
After 15 minutes of sitting, he goes in with a brillo pad (or something really tough) and scrubs the surface.
He isn’t done and you can ALREADY see how well it’s working.
After a final rinse, you can see how well the sheet has been cleaned!
It’s brand new!
Now, with the results shown, he finally tells us what his secret ingredient is for making things look so amazing – it’s Easy Off!
Easy-Off is an oven cleaning solution that most super sores will have.
There IS a caveat, however.
Mike explains that they don’t “recommend” using it on aluminum.
“We do not recommend using this product on aluminum. However it does not penetrate into the metal or remain on the surface after the recommended rinsing instructions have been followed.” – Easy-Off
It could cause discoloration if left on for too long, but in Mike’s experience, it’s never been a problem.
After twenty-five years, he’s been using it without a hitch!
From how easy this and how effective it’s been for him, you can BETTER believe
I will be picking up some Easy-Off the next time that I head to the store.
Watch how easy it is to clean in the video below.
