For a grandparent, it is such a wonderful feeling to see the little ones of their children, and above anything else, it gives their life a new purpose. Oftentimes, it makes them feel like first-time parents again, the feeling of having a member of the family whom they’d look after and take care of until they blossom into full-grown adults.
What beats that great feeling of being a grandparent is when a grandchild follows in their footsteps or career path. It can either be a particular talent that was passed down to them, or they just have the same passion as their grandpa or grandma.
Whatever the reason may be, it will still boil down to one thing and one thing alone, some things just really run in the blood and there’s no changing that. Just like this video of a proud and famous grandpa and his grandson.
Who doesn’t know the name George Strait?
He is an American country music singer, an actor, a songwriter, and also a music producer. George Strait is also known as the “King of Country” and is considered one of the most influential and popular recording artists of all time.

When talking about how great he is as a musician, his awards alone will do the talking:
“In the 2000s, Strait was named Artist of the Decade by the Academy of Country Music, was elected into the Country Music Hall of Fame, and won his first Grammy award for the album Troubadour. Strait was named CMA Entertainer of the Year in 1989, 1990 and 2013, and ACM Entertainer of the Year in 1990 and 2014. He has been nominated for more CMA and ACM awards and has more wins in both categories than any other artist.”

He is a music record breaker and an award-winning artist!

But on top of his achievements, he’s still a human, a proud grandpa to be specific.
In March of last year, during the Houston Rodeo Show, Strait sang in front of a huge crowd, blessing them with his amazing country music. But he wasn’t alone, he brought a very special guest, someone very close to his heart.
It’s none other than his very first grandchild, Harvey Strait III. Harvey is Strait’s grandchild from his son George Strait Jr. and his wife Tamara.
Together on stage, they beautifully sing “God and Country Music.”
In fact, George shared that his grandson Harvey had a contribution to the song’s creation.
“It took us several takes… I went in there and I kinda did it with him, and then I would kinda just back out and leave him, and so that’s how it worked out. But he was all for it. He was all about doing it. He got really involved in that record. For six years old [laughs], that’s pretty good.”
George proves he’s still bringing his A-game!
Looks like age is just a number and this performance will prove it. He still has his distinctive vocals, which is incredibly perfect for a piece of country music. It’s solid, smooth, and relaxing, it’s just – immaculate!
Though Harvey is a bit shy to perform in front of a big audience, he still gives everyone a taste of his young and raw vocals. And as they end the song, proud grandpa George gives his grandson a big kiss on the forehead, and then Harvey wave’s the audience goodbye.
Time will only tell if he’s going to follow in grandpa’s footsteps or not. One thing is for sure though, he has a very good teacher in the person of his very own grandfather.
