Here’s what you’ll need:

1/2 pint of strawberries
12 slices of white sandwich bread
cream cheese (4 oz)
1/4 cup powdered sugar (icing sugar)
2 large eggs
2 tablespoons of milk
3 teaspoons granulated sugar, divided
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

Our adventure starts with the humble strawberry.

After a good wash, these ruby-red gems are hulled and chopped into bite-sized pieces.

The size matters here, as we want them to nestle perfectly inside our roll-ups.

A sprinkle of sugar is then added to the strawberries, enhancing their natural sweetness and setting the stage for a mouthwatering filling.

While our strawberries are getting their sugar fix, a creamy delight is taking shape.

A bowl of cream cheese is given a quick zap in the microwave to soften it, then stirred until it’s as smooth as silk.

A dusting of powdered sugar is mixed in, creating a sweet and creamy spread that will pair beautifully with our sugared strawberries.

Now, it’s time for the fun part – assembling the roll-ups.

A slice of everyday white sandwich bread is rolled flat and its crusts are trimmed off, leaving a perfect square canvas.

A dollop of our sweetened cream cheese is spread along one edge, followed by a spoonful of the sugared strawberries.

The bread is then rolled up, snugly encasing the delicious filling.

With our roll-ups ready, we turn our attention to the egg mixture that will give our sandwich its French toast transformation.

An egg is whisked together with milk, sugar, and a dash of cinnamon, creating a fragrant bath for our roll-ups.

The cooking begins on a medium-heated griddle, lightly oiled and dotted with a pat of butter.

The roll-ups are dipped into the egg mixture and placed seam-side down on the griddle.

This not only seals the seam but also gives the roll-ups a golden-brown, crispy crust.

As the roll-ups sizzle away, they’re carefully turned a quarter turn once they’re golden brown on the bottom.

This ensures a crispy exterior all around.

The scent of toasting bread mingles with the sweet aroma of the filling, filling the kitchen with a tantalizing smell that signals our roll-ups are almost ready.

Once they’re perfectly cooked, the roll-ups are served up on a plate, dusted with a final touch of powdered sugar.

A few more fresh strawberries are scattered on top, adding a pop of color and a fresh contrast to the warm roll-ups.

The result? A plate of Strawberry French Toast Roll-Ups that’s as pleasing to the eye as it is to the palate.
