A few months ago, the FBI in the state of Michigan issued a horrifying warning to frequent grocery shoppers. The warning was due to video surveillance catching a young man spraying fresh produce with an unknown liquid substance. It was to our horror upon finding out what was in the substance, a mixture of MICE poison, hand cleaner, and water.

The young man has been arrested where he later confessed to authorities that he sprayed the substance in only three places: a Whole Foods, Plum Market, and Meijers, but they are not buying it.

According to FBI investigation, they believe that he has been doing this for the last two weeks perhaps affecting over a dozen Michigan stores.

Local citizens are horrified at this act. A lady interviewed shaking her head said, “What if he’s been doing it for weeks, months, or years and we just suddenly someone saw him and it makes you think about everything you buy all the time.”

According to the Washtenaw County Public Health Department about 15 stores in the regions of Ann Arbor, Flint, Midland, Birch Run and Saline, Michigan, may have been targeted. The targeted stores were immediately told to dispose of their produce and to shutdown all fresh food bars.

It was also advised that any grocery shoppers who bought fresh produce from any of these stores to promptly dispose of the goods purchased from the salad bar.

I am glad someone caught this guys in his mad act. I can’t even comprehend the thought process behind such a malicious act. This should be a reminder to all of us to always wash and rinse any store-bought produce.

And with washing your fresh produce, we have a little recipe that we’d like to share with you.

1. Fill your sink up with cold water and place your fresh produce inside the water (make sure your sink is properly cleaned).

2. Add 2 tablespoons of salt.

3. Squeeze about half a lemon into the sink.

4. Add a splash of Apple Cidar Vinegar.

5. Let your produce soak while occasionally pressing them down, submerging them into the water.
