And for the sauce:

  • sour cream – 100 g (3.5 oz)
  • mayonnaise – 50 g (1.76 oz)
  • onion – 1 piece
  • garlic – 2 cloves
  • black pepper – 5 g (0.18 oz)
  • salt – 5 g (0.18 oz)
  • green onion – 10 g (0.35 oz)
  • parsley – 10 g (0.35 oz)

If you are all set with the ingredients, let’s get things started.

Step 1: On parchment or baking paper, lay the puff pastry down flat.

After that, pour the tomato sauce and use a pastry brush to spread it, making sure to cover 2/3 of the entire puff pastry.

Step 3: In a small mixing bowl, beat the egg and apply it to the remaining parts of the puff pastry using a pastry brush.

Once done, it’s time to finally roll it up and then press both ends firmly and cut off the excess parts as if sealing both ends.

Step 4: Next, put the puff pastry on top of a baking sheet.

Using a spatula and pizza cutter, make half-deep slices on your puff pastry roll. Each cut should be at least 2 to 3 inches apart from each other.

Fill each cut with sliced tomatoes and mozzarella. Finally, apply the remaining beaten egg to the entire roll and sprinkle some oregano and olive oil on top. Bake it at 356 °F (180 °C) for 25 minutes.

Step 5: While waiting, it’s time to prepare the sauce.

First, put the sour cream and mayonnaise in a separate mixing bowl. Then, mince and sauté the onion, removing it from heat once it turns golden brown.

Add it to the sauce mixture together with pressed garlic, ground black pepper, salt, minced green onions, and minced parsley. Mix all the ingredients well to come up with the best results.
