There’s no words that could describe my love for fried chicken. What could be better than biting into a tender, flavorful piece of chicken that’s hot and crispy on the outside? It’s too bad that friend chicken is unhealthy and takes a lot of effort to make though… right?

Shareably readers, today I will share with you a secret “fried” chicken recipe that’s healthy and incredibly simple to make. Did you ever think that fried chicken could be healthy? Keep reading to find how how you can make healthy fried chicken in less than 10 minutes prep time!

Here are the ingredients you’ll need:

  • 3.5 lbs chicken drumsticks
  • 2 tablespoons salted cajun seasoning (like Old Bay)
  • Liquid smoke flavoring
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 eggs
  • 10 oz of crushed seasoned croutons
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter (optional)
  • parsley (optional)

Preheat the oven to 425F. While you’re waiting for it to heat up, lay out three medium-sized bowls. In the first bowl, mix together the flour and cornstarch. In the second bowl, mix together the eggs. In the last bowl, pour in the crushed croutons. Grease up the racks of a large grilling pan and set this next to the bowl of crushed croutons.

Grab a large bowl and place the drumsticks inside. Add in the cajun seasoning and a few drops of liquid smoke. Then take one piece of drumstick, dip it into the flour bowl, dip it into the egg mixture, and then dip it into the crushed croutons. It’s as easy as 1, 2,3. Make sure that the chicken gets evenly coated with the mixtures.

Afterwards, place the chicken onto the greased rack. Repeat this process with the rest of the drumsticks. Then, stick them in your oven and wait for 30~35 minutes. And then that’s it!

These bad boys will come out golden, crunchy, and incredibly juicy on the inside. You could brush on some butter or sprinkle on some parsley, or eat the chicken as is. With this simple recipe, you can gorge on all the fried chicken you want without feeling guilty!
