A new pineapple hack has taken the internet by storm

If you’re one of those people who enjoy eating pineapple you probably find it tricky to cut and it’s easy to make a mistake. A new pineapple hack appeared on Twitter recently and has become hugely popular.

Before we share the trick with you, however, we first need to point out that it works best with a special kind of pineapple that may not always be available at your local supermarket.

So, what’s the difference between snack pineapple and regular pineapple?

The biggest difference is size. Snack pineapples are smaller than regular pineapples and measure around 10 cm (about 4 inches) in diameter. They differ in shape as well and tend to be cylindrical to oval with short and dark green leaves. Snack pineapples also contain less fiber than regular ones.

Most important of all, snack pineapples are easier to cut, if you apply the hack we talked about. Here’s how you do it.

You don’t need to cut it, you don’t need to core or peel it. The trick is to pull it apart piece by piece by using the nodes on the rind. Having said that, we’ll also add that you can use the peels to make tea loaded with bromelain – a powerful enzyme with anti-inflammatory properties.

The hack works with regular pineapples too, but you’ll have to loosen the fibers first

Fortunately, the hack also works with regular pineapples but you’ll need to roll the pineapple across the table as it helps loosen the fibers. Don’t start by removing the top but make small cuts to make your job easier.

The downside is, it can be tricky to do it with a large pineapple but nothing’s stopping you from trying! It has to be said that it looks easier than it actually is.

We recommend you use the knife to slice along the top of the pineapple and then cut into the spaces between fruitless in order to make it easier to pry the chunks from the rind.

If you think this hack is not for you, there’s another way to cut your pineapple without waste

Cutting a pineapple doesn’t need to be a hassle if you know what you’re doing.

For starters, it would be best to have a sharp knife at hand, as it will make the whole cutting process a lot easier. The next step is to place the pineapple on the cutting board, remove the ends, and cut off 1 inch from the bottom then do the same from the top.

Proceed to cut off the out edge of the fruit while making sure to follow the natural curve as much as possible and minimize waste. Cut the pineapple in half lengthwise, place the two halves flat on your work surface, and cut lengthwise. Remove the pieces of the core and chop it the way you like best!
