During this quarantine, everyone deserves to make themselves a treat. If you are not one that likes sweet foods to be your treat, then this recipe is just for you. Once you make these tornado potatoes once, they will become a staple in your personal recipe book.
Tornado Potatoes are the ultimate salt craving snack without being too salty.
This recipe is a serving size for two people, but it is easy to double or triple if needed.
The ingredients you will need are:
- 2 medium white potatoes
- 1 cup of grated parmesan cheese
- 4 tablespoons of melted butter
- 1 tablespoon of paprika
- ½ teaspoon of black pepper
- 1 tablespoon of garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- Chopped parsley for garnish
Make sure you preheat your oven at 325° or 160° degrees.
The first step is pushing a skewer into the middle of each potato until the potato is in the middle of the skewer. Once it is positioned in the middle of the skewer, it is time to move on the next step. This step is going to be the hardest part of the recipe, but once it is finished the rest of the recipe will be really easy to complete.
For the next step the recipe states to, “Hold a sharp, thin knife at an angle and cut in the opposite direction you are turning the skewered potato.” Make sure to watch the video as an example during this step. This is the most important step because you have to make sure every part of the potato is sliced just right.
Now it is on to the fun part.
You will now fan the potato down the skewer, so every potato spiral is spread out. This is important because you want to be able to put the seasoning on every part of the potatoes. Once they are spread out to your liking, you will brush your melted butter on all the potatoes.
Who doesn’t love buttery potatoes?
All the seasonings of parmesan cheese, black pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and salt will need to be combined in a medium sized bowl and mixed well. Once it is mixed, you will want to gently lay one potato skewer at a time over the bowl.
It is time to put all the yummy seasonings all over your potatoes.
Don’t forget that you need to also put the seasonings on the second potato, so do not use all the seasonings on the first.
Once both potatoes have been coated with all the seasonings you are going to want to lay the skewers on a baking sheet. You do not want the potatoes laid flat on the baking sheet, so make sure to lay the end of the skewers on the side of the baking sheet. This will let the potatoes hover over the bottom just enough to cook the potatoes all around.
You will need to bake the tornado potatoes for 25 to 30 minutes, or until they are browned.
Once they are cooked it is time to garnish them with your parsley and more parmesan cheese to your liking. These are going to come out super-hot, so you want to make sure to let them rest for about five minutes.
The best part has finally arrived, it is time to eat your tornado potatoes. Enjoy!
